Gondola 5

Summercamp Prompt: A method used to carry good over long distances

Gondola 5 is the sole remaining functional gondola on the six car line connecting Dir'rh Aubhai (which at the top of the plateau) to Dir'rh Nejethon (which is at the bottom). The line is unpowered, due to the decommissioning of the Aubhai Power Station as part of the Mark of Gishani Exile placed upon the Strashya Atoll by the Gishani Marshall's Office.

Without a power station, the gondola's messiner engines cannot be charged, and the gondolas can no longer be used to transport large cargo. This limitation was one of the reasons for the abandonment of Aubhai.

Current location

The small cable car dipped slightly as the party board, then bobbed back to its original position. The line, it seemed, would hold. Neglect had not yet entirely undermined functionality.

After a couple last safety checks, Korgin released the main brake and the cable car descended. Without a functioning engine on the car, the trip was one-way, but that would be enough.

Warm, humid air teased past them as they descended, tangy with the salt of sea air and the nitrogenic aroma of lush plant life. Wisps of sulfur seared their noses as well, bubbling up from coastal springs.

The southern lip of Strashy's ring was not even an hour's walk in width, a ridge rose rise from the ocean on a bed of coral. They were at the southeast end of the island. To the west was the village, and beyond that was an interlocking bramble of Nege growth that promised to grow taller than even the plateau from which they were descending. To the south sat a shallow, brackish lagoon sandwiched between this island and the neighboring, spewing heat from sulfuric springs. Judging by the rigs poised over some of them, the town was running off of their geothermal power.

It was all a bit shabby, but by god, Xetto had done it. He'd made something of this place

As they descended, the town came into view. At first, the people in its unpaved streets were indistinct and small, but as a crowd began to gather at the station at the root of the ride, they saw a mixture of hardy folks awaiting them with a mixture of confusion and concern.

"Looks friendly," Xetto said.

It's such a shame that it is no longer powered. It must have been really cool when all the gondolas worked.   Also, oh no.

Perhaps the players will do something about it. :)   It's a campaign that you are welcome to spectate on its private discord server, if you like!

I love it! Oops.   It was a lovely one way trip. I loved the players' booze offering, too. They much have been quite the sight.
