Druid in Erenel | World Anvil

Druid

This Druid article features subclass options for Erenel players in 5th Edition Dungeons and Dragons. The article will be updated over time as new subclasses are released! Some subclasses are only available for Gamingbrew Patrons!

Druids are the caretakers of the natural world, and it is said that in time a druid becomes the voice of nature, speaking the truth that is too subtle for the general populace to hear. Many who become druids find that they naturally gravitate toward nature; its forces, cycles, and movements fill their minds and spirits with wonder and insight.   Many sages and wise folk have studied nature, writing volumes about its mystery and power, but druids are a special kind of being: at some point, they begin to embody these natural forces, producing magical phenomena that link them to the spirit of nature and the flow of life. Because of their strange and mysterious power, druids are often revered, shunned, or considered dangerous by the people around them.   Your druid character might be a true worshiper of nature, one who has always scorned civilization and found solace in the wild. Or your character could be a child of the city who now strives to bring the civilized world into harmony with the wilderness.

Circle of Calamity

Many druids draw their power from certain aspects of nature. However, it’s typically an aspect of nature that exist in the material plane. Druids who follow the Circle of Calamity look beyond Erenel and instead draw power from the elemental planes, terraforming the battlefield into the plane of their choice.

Circle of Dragons

Druids of the Circle of Dragons devote themselves to the might of dragonkind. These Druids recognize that all dragons play a role in the natural world. However, similar to the differences in dragon ancestry, a druid taking their shape is filled with the same ancestral instincts. Be it fanatical worship, a lust for power or a desire for balance, a Druid ascending into the form of a majestic tyrant can strike fear and inspire awe in those around them.

Circle of Horrors

Druids who hear the call of horrors choose to listen to the whispers originating beyond the stars to protect the natural from the unnatural. Seeking to understand the void’s alienlike influence regrettably changes the druid. Many druids accept this tainted gift in hopes of preserving life while others slowly succumb to madness, becoming pawns for The Null.

Circle of Pestilence

As a Druid who rejects the call of nature’s protection, you instead seek a cycle of decomposition and renewal. Flowers wilt at your fingertips, and vegetation shudders and dies as you will it. Unlike your brethren, you believe the undead are part of this cycle—a tool to be used in spreading the cleansing plague before returning to decay and rot.

Available only for Gamingbrew Patrons. If you are a Patron the sub class will appear below.

Circle of Prehistoric Beasts

Druids of the Circle of Prehistoric Beasts look to dinosaurs and ancient behemoths for strength and wisdom. Believing in the traditions of their ancestors, these druids seek to protect and guide the first reptiles, believing them to be nature’s purest form.   Through this prehistoric might, Druids draw upon the memories of dinosaurs, transforming into prehistoric beasts that have otherwise been lost or remain isolated in mountain valleys, deep in jungles or secluded on tropical islands.

Circle of Preservation

Seen as radical in the eyes of traditional circles, druids under the Circle of Preservation do not seek a harmonious balance with nature but instead to leave it untouched. Accepting of the inevitable violations of civilization, druids of this circle wish to preserve the nature world with clockwork machinations that serve to continue the legacies of the beasts they mimic. Their bonds are found not within nature itself but from the knowledge it represents.

Circle of the Reaper

Druids of the Circle of the Reaper revere the cycle of life and go to great lengths to see the process remains unbroken. They believe the undead and their necromancer allies are afraid of what lies beyond death and selfishly sabotage nature's laws.   Many Druids of this circle spend their lives righting this wrong, hunting those who try to break free from the cycle. They have been called extremists due to their use of necromancy as a tool in their plight. These words mean nothing to a Circle of the Reaper, for the cycle of life is of the utmost importance.

Circle of the Treant

Strong and steadfast, druids of this circle serve as forest guardians, assuming a mighty wildwood form to protect Treants meditating through a long cycle of seasons. As their connection deepens, the druid acquires tree-like features, forming bark across its skin as its hair slowly turns into foliage.
