Daywalker: 5E Class in Erenel | World Anvil

Daywalker: 5E Class

You are a Daywalker, an undead awakened to a hunger that can only be sated by drinking the blood of the living. As a Daywalker, your body has reacted differently than most, preventing you from becoming a true vampire. You are unburdened by typical vampire weaknesses and lack a portion of their renowned strengths.   You are caught between the world of the living and the dead. Although you have tamed your predatory nature, the temptation to feed is ever-present. Some Daywalker have learned to dwell among the living and are lucky to find a place in society. Others choose a life a solitary life or pledge service to a vampire lord, avoiding unwanted persecution. Regardless of your place, wasting your dark gifts would be a shame.

Creating a Daywalker

When you create your character, consider how you were changed into a Daywalker and who you were before your transformation. What is your attitude toward being a Daywalker? Do you seek a cure and abhor the thought of feasting on mortals, or do you see yourself as a wolf among sheep, gladly accepting the dark gift?

Optional Class Rule: Player Characters as Vampires

If a player is slain by a vampire's bite and then buried in the ground. You could have the player rise as a Daywalker instead of a Vampire Spawn under the vampire's control. Two options are listed below on how to incorporate the Daywalker class for the player.

Multiclass Change 1
My favorite way to accommodate the optional class rule has the player slowly succumb. The player continues onward, hearing strange whispers or feeling an intense desire to drink blood until their next level up. Upon their next level up, they must multiclass into the Daywalker, representing the player's complete transformation. If the player chooses to revert their vampirism, replace any Daywalker levels with levels in an available class.

Multiclass Change 2
If you don't want to wait for a level up, you could let the player immediately replace one class level with the Daywalker!

Full Class Change
Give the player a new character sheet. (Keep the old sheet if they find a way to revert the vampirism!) The player recreates their character at the same level as their previous character, but all class levels must be from the Daywalker class.
