Personal history
Wayland Dorham spent his life in a small rural community. He was witness to many raids and famins growing up and felt frustrated at his inability to do anything. A group of knights saved his village from local bandits once again, and he watched as a cleric tended to the wounded.
It only took a few kind words that fell on his hardened ears to persuade him to join the cause. Casting aside his family and life, he devoted himself fully to St. Carmichael and set about spreading the word of his Saint.
As a boy, he was unacustomed to the wealth the church recieved. True, he gave most of his income to his church, but the services, food, and shelter they provided were something a small farmboy could never dream.

Once obtaining his Priesthood, Wayland's attitude changed. He was now in a position of authoritiy, something he wanted... but was not prepaired for.
On his first assignment, he was given command of a unit of paladins to libirate a town that was infested with undead.
His overconfidence and lack of discression got most of his unit killed, and he personally had to kill his recently risen comrads.
