Cyfrolaef (SIF-ROH-LAYF)

This article is about the geographical region of Cyfrolaef. This region is considered ungoverned territory as it cannot be occupied by ordinary people due to the corrupt that prevails here.

Summary

Before the Reckoning, Cyfrolaef was a region of Elzveir dubbed Tirbach, a land where moets and smaller hibridia had built small civilizations scattered throughout a gorgeous green landscape. When Cor'Athvaarn, it obliterated most of the civilizations of Tirbach. Those who survived—which were few and far between—fled to other nations or retreated underground to Umbra. Nothing can be found of those old civilizations, but plenty from the wreckage of Cor'Athvaarn is still to be seen and uncovered.

Cor'Athvaarn was a city the size of a modern nation in itself. It had vacuumed up more than half of the cities of Aduna when it was destroyed, in addition to many other cities it had collected over the roughly fifteen hundred years since its inception, including those from other domains and even realities. The result was an enormous, spherical conglomerate that, when it was sent careening toward Elzveir after Norran Lorakian successfully performed the Rite of the New Moon, created a catastrophic crater that forever changed the landscape of Tirbach, earning it the new title of Cyfrolaef and a reputation as an incredibly dangerous region of Elzveir.

Geography

Cyfrolaef has the most unusual geography out of any region in Elzveir. This is due to the nature of its formation, which was a colossal city crashing into the earth at its center. The impact of such a tremendous entity created not only a crater, but enormous jagged rocks like mountains around that crater. It had likewise scraped off the peaks of the Divine Reach prior to its impact, which crashed into the ground to form new terrain.

Since the impact, foliage has attempted to regrow in the space and dust has collected over the ruins, making the landscape appear to be a combination of both natural and unnatural elements. Skyscrapers from other realities jut out of the ground at a sharp angle, supported by pillars formed by other crashed and lopsided settlements, all overgrown with vines, hardened earth, and even trees.

More unusually, the corruption that emanates from the ancient ruins of the city has spread impacted life in the area, causing mutations in the flora and fauna within the region. Cyfrolaef's denizens—be they beast or tree—are aberrant, vile versions of what they once were, making them incredible dangerous and borderline unrecognizeable.

Chwahwr

The seas below Yrspholahs are ripe with chunks of stone and portions of the city, as the power of Cor'Athvaarn's impact sent huge pieces of itself flying into the waters beyond. The ruins in the waters below are some of the least-explored portions of the city, even by undewater species, as the corruption from Cor'athvaarn emanates even into these distant elements of it, seeping into and darkening the surrounding water. Some portions of the ruins do protrude upward like spires from the waves, though even these exposed elements of old civilizations are still too dangerous to approach.

Effarswyd

The impact crater of the city, as well as the strewn field from the impact where it had discarded chunks of its absorbed civilizations in a trail behind itself. This is where the bulk of Cor'Athvaarn still resides, mostly beneath the ground. The impact crater formed an enormous pit around itself which has since been filled in partially with dirt. While scavengers rarely dare to come out to this site anymore, the remnants of old excavation efforts can still be seen in the creaking, crumbling scaffolding around the perimeter of this enormous crater.

Yrspholahs

Yrspholas is an enormous, jagged mountain range that was formed by the impact of Cor'Athvaarn; it is the resulting antipodal lift, as chunks of the terrain were forced away from the impact to form a ramp of knife-like stone. Bits of the stone—together with portions of the city itself—slid into the waters below this structure. Over time, the antipodal lift has been diminished by both natural erosion and earthquakes causing further chunks of the stone to fall into the water.

Fauna & Flora

The Cyfrolaef is home to the magical Dwc’da plant. There may be more flora to discover.

Comparative Geography

There is no real comparative geography, but the entire place is the corrupted archaeological dig site where vast amounts of technology were extracted from the ruins of cities that came from other realities entirely.

Comparative Society/Governance

No society.

Comparative Architecture

Architecture found in the ruins is a mixture of modern and medieval structural design from various periods and cultures.

Suggested Accent (if desired)

No one comes from Cyfrolaef as the region is uninhabitable.
