Accelerated Growth

Three hundred years ago, a near-apocalyptic event known as the Reckoning resulted in a vast city from another reality crashing into the far western reaches of Elzveir, forming an uninhabitable region since known as Cyfrolaef. Scavengers ventured into this smoldering wasteland in search of fortune, which they found in the form of otherworldly technologies that accelerated the industrial advancement of the entire world of Aen. This growth could only be sustained for so long, as fewer and fewer people were willing to risk their lives venturing into Cyfrolaef in the hopes of uncovering something new, in part due to the rumors of mutated beings emerging from the wreckage to slaughter those who dared sift through the remains of the city.

The years that followed the discoveries of these artifacts from other realities have been fraught with tension as corporations across Aen fight to be the first to release groundbreaking technologies. From telephones to trains, medicine to airships, and rifles to tanks, the industrial revolution has made life on Aen unrecognizable when compared to what it was like before the Reckoning.

Conquest

It hasn't been a purely peaceful race in these past centuries, however. The Kingdom of Fainarr has ensured that there would be no peace, almost singlehandedly, since the Reckoning. In the past three hundred years, they have conquered three of Elzveir's territories, or four if you count Aldurstein, though it has seceded from Fainarr. The other nations of Elzveir have responded to the conquering kingdom's violence and pressure in kind, resulting in numerous skirmishes and wars that have bathed Elzveir in blood.

Now, it is the year 302 AR. There hasn't been a large-scale conflict in Elzveir for half a century, but tensions have never been higher among the continent's nations. There are whispers in the south where the Kingdom of Fainarr presides over Aduna, and plots in Miliim to overthrow their own Federation, established in a manner that greatly benefited Fainarr. Could war be brewing again? And with the new technologies available to all parties that could be involved, would this be a war to end all others, with the victor reigning over Aen in its entirety?
