A to Zookeeper

A lot of kids dream about being a zookeeper one day. And for good reason! Anyone with a passion for working with animals dreams of being a zookeeper. Getting to take care of such incredible creatures is one of the most rewarding jobs in existence.
We are so proud of our zookeepers here at the A to Zoo. All of our keepers are incredibly diligent workers, with the highest standards of work. It's more than just getting the job done, it's about being passionate about the work you do.
Not only do our keepers take care of our animals, they are also important educators and teachers! You'll find them hosting talks about the animals they take care of, teaching visitors fun and interesting facts, and educating about conservation.

How do I become a zookeeper?

If you are but a young one, we have trial days as junior zookeepers! Hang out with some of our staff, follow them around as you learn the ropes. You'll get to hand feed some friendly animals, prepare some food, and clean up some small enclosures! Better wear gloves!
Volunteering is a fantastic way to enter the world of zookeeping. We value actual hands-on experience far more than paper qualifications. Come volunteer at the A to Zoo, either on a block week or as a set day, every week! We want to thank our current volunteers for all of their hard work, it does not get taken for granted!

Have a Specific Interest?

Not to worry! Most zookeepers specialise in specific animals. It would be near impossible to have elite knowledge of all creatures of the Yonderverse! So if you're only interested in birds, reptiles, mammals, fish, or insects, there will space for you.

We are Hiring!

In fact, we are always hiring! The A to Zoo is always looking for new staff. Think you have what it takes? Apply to one of our many vacancies with your CV and we will be in contact. Though, we get thousands upon thousands of entries per vacancy, so make yourself stand out!

Not Interested In Public Speaking?

No worries! We understand anxiety in public spaces is a real thing. If you want to be a zookeeper, but would rather not do public speaking and host talks about our animals, some of our zookeepers exclusively work with the animals. However, this does require extra enclosure cleaning!

AHHH :D I love this. I'm no longer a kid and I'd still strive for this, always wanted to work with animals, would have been my choice of path if I hadn't stumbled into trade work. I'd absolutely volunteer too, cause who wouldn't? So many interesting and wonderous critters and creatures to meet!

What a lovely start to summer camp! I love everything about this world and this feels like something you'd see on an actual zoo website!
