Lake Oeis

History

Lake Oeis, situated in the southeast of the Vestral Downs, was named for House Oeis, the original rulers of the area. House Oeis, established as one of the nine original major houses, fell to ruin around the time of The Crossing Over. Filling its previously dominant position in Anhara's food-basket, were House Leone and House Moray. While these houses had other territories, they split the culturally significant land around Lake Oeis, with House Leone gaining the ruins of Old Oeis, the former capital of the region. All that remains of this ancient city is crumbling buildings, and a massive statue of Vestria high upon the mountain. However, control over Old Oeis is hard to come by, with House Leone making no attempt at local control. However, House Moray has established Potsherd to try to claim the region.

Geography

Smallest of the five great lakes of Anhara, Lake Oeis is nestled at the base of Nyara's Peaks, twin snow-capped mountains. From these mountains' eastern face flows the Nyara River, from Old Oeis, past the House Thewisy seat of Somae to Imgreshold upon the Narrow Sea. From the western side of Lake Oeis, Oeis' Stream runs past the farms of House Moray to the Baehre Swamp, and into Sagina Bay.
