Lord High Reaper

Qualifications

According to the Undying Law, the Lord High Reaper must be an allyrian of purest heart and noblest intent, however, the Lord High Reaper has been, at times, A male Elf, an allyria, and before the current Lord High Reaper (Estevan Khi'Marinae) a totally corrupt and evil tyrant (albeit he only served until deposed by Estevan, after having been apointed by the God of Corruption (Evil) in the guise of the Queen of Death)

Requirements

In general, A lifetime of service to the Judge of the Dead, but as challenged by Estevan Khi'Marinae and won by Warlock, the Rank of Lord High Reaper can be bargained for!

Estevan thought he was getting one over on the Queen of the Underworld, when he bargained with her to clean up her Church (which had been corrupted by the God of Evil) in return for the "powers" of her Highest Ranking Priest. Estevan, a white Necromancer, wanted the powers of healing but had no actual faith, nor belief in the gods, outside of them being extremely powerful beings. So he bargained with a Goddess that he was smarter than her, and she agreed to give him all the powers of the Lord HIgh Reaper in return for him "cleaning up" her Church. She gave him all the powers, including command of the Priests of her faith, that were still loyal. Estevan witnessed, time and time again, these priests willingly sacrifice themselves on his command, whether it was to defend a target with their lives, or take head on a wave of walking corpses by themselves, and he began a seed of respect and belief in something bigger than oneself.

By the time he had finished clearing the filth from her Church and confronted The Lord High Reaper, who was filled with corruption, he truely believed in her, and when he picked up her Scythe of Office, he knew that she had won, he belonged to her, undyingly.

Appointment

The Lord High Reaper is directly appointed by Divine Mandate; the Goddess chooses her consort.

Duties

Lead funeral and burial rites. See to the interment and continued respect for the dead. Guide the berieved in their loss, help them come to grips with either the justice that will befall the unjust (those who abuse others), or the justice that will uplift a kind loved one who has passed.

Responsibilities

Keep the living safe from (but not necessarily destroy) the undead. As undeath is seen as a punishment for injustice, only the unjust are worthy to be undead. Therefore, judge each undead as worthy or unworthy of this punishment, and destroy the unworthy while controlling the others. This is especially true for undead with minds, such as Ghouls, Vampires and Liches. For those, control (if you are able) otherwise destroy as too dangerous to control.

Benefits

THe Lord High Reaper is among the most powerful mortals in Known Space, they literally choose life and death for Allyri, and are completely unkillable. No matter what you do, Warlock already has their soul and can recreate their body and mind at her will and leasure.

Accoutrements & Equipment

The lord High Reaper wears an ornate black robe that magically disguises their appearance to be skeletal when the cowl is drawn up, and carries a large scythe that steals souls.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

THe Lord High Reaper is consort to the Lady of Death, and remains in power, literally indefinitely, provided they remain in her favour.
