Fun Facts of The Web
A touch of detail...
Hello! So this series of articles is kind of like a trivia thing for me to put all the "Fun Fact" sections I write, but for one reason or another, choose not to include in an article. I don't want to delete them in hopes I can use them layer, but don't want them clogging up my files either. XD Think of it like "Trivia of The Web," where little extra details can be viewed by those who want to know. It adds some depth that may not be apparent in the articles I publish.
I would also love for this to be an AMA or Q&A of the web! Feel free to ask any questions if you happen to have them!

Fun Fact: The Cave
Here is a little author's note for you.
The Candlelight is heavily inspired by a philosophical work. Plato's Allegory of The Cave, a decent summery can be found
Here.
The cave is a neat little idea that I loved every since I read it in high school. It perfectly touches on the themes of The Web and the nature of enlightenment, particularly when coupled with the themes of Cosmic Horror. I'm thinking of writing more on this, let me know if you be curious.

1:Religion in The Web
Religion is complicated in
The Web. As discussed in
The Rules of Inclusion: Joining The Web, most people in The Web are Agnostic, followed by those who are religious or at least spiritual.
Cults are everywhere in The World, a running joke on the genres of weird fiction and cosmic horror. These cultists defy traditional definitions of religion in that they don't have faith in the cosmic entities they worship. They know these beings exist, and some even awknoledge that these beings may not be gods in a traditional sense.
This hasn't stopped them from engaging in the occasional crusade, however. The Battle of 12 Cults fought on the salt flats of Utah is one such example.
2. Grail Knights practice Celibacy (Slightly NSFW)
The Grail Knights are celibate, and not due to any paths or vows they take. The Grail Knights are universally asexual. Each exists somewhere on the asexual spectrum, and generally, only demisexuals will have sexual desire at all, and only with those who they have a deep emotional connection with.
This comes from the concept of Chivarly that many of these knights hold told, particularly the concept of courtly love. It's traditional for courtly love to never be fulfilled. There isn't a goal or set end point. As the concept of love and relationships changed from aquireing land and heirs, so did the idea of sexuality. Asexuals slowly but surely became a predominant demographic.
Many of these knights will engage is flirtation but this is more of a formality, as their asexuality and concepts of chivalry prevent any form of sexual contact unless it is under very specific circumstances, such as the aforementioned demisexual knights.
3. Mail Order Magic
The Prestige is the closest thing to true magic one can possess. Be this as it may, its not uncommon for those who wander the new age section of a bookstore to stumble on the occasional ritual or spell that yields results.
This "mail order magic," as those who use The Prestige call it, is considered dangerous as it can spark
The Candlelight without warning. More importantly, some of these would be witches and warlocks gain powers they cannot control, or powers they should never have.
Some spells can yield massive amounts of damage and death, making them a target for various groups in The Web. Some will be assasinated and never fully understand why. It also leads to people being killed who never had access to this power in the first place. These individuals often end up in hidding, learning the very spells that painted a target on their back to begin with for protection.
4. Road Trip
The Web isn't just a labrinthine world of conspiracy, monsters, and those who deal with them. It's also a place of strange locations and other worlds. There are many places all over the world that are unexplored, others are hidden by
The Candlelight.
A waterfall that mysteriously flows up instead of down in the amazon, a strange temple built before recorded history sits in the middle of London, and an entire island off the coast of Scotland can only be seen by those who know it exists. Some of these are based on real world legends. Other locations actually exist.
Sometimes, reality can be stranger than fiction. Those who know of Joe Exotic already know of the former abandoned zoo in my home state of Oklahoma. In Australia, there is a lake where the water is colored a deep pink and in Laos, there is a plain filled with stone jars, ranging in groups of ten to a hundred. For a tragic location, you have the forest in Aokighara, Japan, also known as the suicide forest and for some more nightmare fuel, you have the isle of dead dolls which is full of dolls hanging from trees and buildings.
12 cults battling in Utah? You've got me very intrigued now. Is Utah as the battleground meaningful in the way I think it is here?
Lol not because of the LDS Or RLDS but the reference is not lost on me XD The salt flats were chosen due to the isolation, as well as a prehistoric temple that lies smack in the middle of the region. once I finish with the Grail knights, the twelve Cults incident is next.
Isolation would do it! I'll have to look forward to that one.
I hope I do it justice! We shall see. thank you kind sir.
