Holl

Holl are fierce pale amphibians which are often trained by the Beuttep to hunt monsters.

Appearance

Holl are large, pale amphibians— about the size of an average housecat— with long snakelike bodies and flat vertical arrow-shaped heads. The ends of their heads are bordered by protruding bone that runs from the chin to the top of the head— splitting at the mouth— curving outward into a sharp point not unlike an antler. Rows of sharp teeth are barely contained by their mouths, with typically a handful of jagged teeth sticking out.
On each side of the head protrudes two small black eyes. They have somewhat short stubby legs, though they are surprisingly fast with their hind legs being similar to those of a frog, allowing them to quickly leap at prey. These legs are, of course, equipped with small— yet incredibly sharp— claws. Their tails split into three, each ending with a hard bone ball— acting almost like a whip.
Unlike their Beuttepeun masters, holl posses night-vision. They do not rely on sound or smell. This makes them a deadly pairing with their blind masters which are adept with perception by sound and smell.   Holl lack great hearing or smell, but posses spectacular eyesight— while their masters posses great hearing and smell yet lack sight. The Beuttep do not eat the flesh of the monsters they hunt, but holl survive off of it— allowing the Beuttep to make use of every part of their kills.

Habits

Holl are often cautious creatures, and will stalk prey quietly— often waiting for the right opportunity to strike. Holl are wont to hunt in small packs of 3-4, and can accept humans as part of their packs. This has led to them being bred, raised, and trained by the Beuttep for hunting parties. For attacking, holl will focus on their tails as a primary weapon— though their claws, teeth, and chin-spikes are often utilized as well.

Hi, really interesting article!   Since you are asking for feedback, sleeping in turns is not something that you would find commonly in nature (at least for terrestrial predators that live in groups, although I'm allowing the Beuttep to make use of every part of their kills. this on mammals). In prey animals, you could find animals not fully synchronized and taking "turns" (although there are some hours where most animals will be asleep).   Aside from that, I was left wondering, if they don't eat their meat, why are Beuttep hunting these monsters? I was particularly confused by this bit of a sentence "allowing the Beuttep to make use of every part of their kills. "

I did not know that wasn't viable, though I don't think it's out of the realms of fantasy! Tbh I didn't think much about their sleeping habits and as I was about to finish this I went "wait I need that" and here we are.
Monsters are consumed by hunger sated most by the flesh of man. As human, the Beuttepeun cannot just wait to be attacked, and thus hunt potential threats to keep their settlements safe.

Ups, I just realized that I messed up my comment with pasting the sentence where it did not belong. Looks like you understood my message though xD
