Magnetic Poisoning Disease

Magnetic Poisoning Disease is an uncommon disease that occurs from continued exposure to large amounts of Magnetite. Due to the intensity of the magnetic energy from the minerals, the iron in a person's bloodstream can end up bleeding out from their veins, resulting in various painful symptoms overcoming them and; in worse cases, ending with death.

Causes

When one spends an extended period of time near a large amount of Magnetite, the iron within one's bloodstream begins to bleed through a person's veins. The result is comparable to a much more extreme version of iron deficiency; with the main difference being that the iron removed from the blood ends up in places where it shouldn't be, such as inside the lungs, liver, heart, and brain.

Symptoms

The symptoms, along with the existing aliments that come from iron deficiency; including dizziness, fatigue, shortness of breath and a fast heart rate; also come with more harmful symptoms that, if left unchecked, can result in death. These include:
  • Blotches of blood pooling up underneath skin
  • Acute stomach pain
  • Damage to the liver, heart, stomach, intestines, and lungs
  • Blindness
  • Brain Hemorrhaging

Treatment

Along with feeding those infected with the disease doses of iron supplements to get their iron back in order, extensive surgery has to be given to those who have suffered the worst of the symptoms; removing the iron that has accumulated in the organs. As an unfortunate result, however, most functions of the organs in question are damaged, requiring their own extensive treatments that can last a lifetime. The brain as well will permanently be damaged, with the worst cases often crippling those infected heavily; rendering them unfit to function on their own behalf.

Prevention

The best way to prevent someone from suffering from Magnetic Poisoning Disease is to avoid exposure to high amounts of Magnetite in the area. The risk of obtaining this disease increases when one is continually using machinery that has a large quantity of Magnetite in it's design.

Oh gods, yikes. I can just imagine how that must feel to literally have the iron in your blood slowly leeched away from where it should be. Yikes.
