Starfeather Circle

Even in the darkest of moments, one can always find some form of light in the stars.
— Knarlock Grasstounge

The Starfeather Circle is a druidic group within the Ossalimarian Empire who are dedicated towards the protection of the Starlight Grove, between the Lorena Range and Livewood Forest.

Culture

Since their inception, the Starfeather Circle have been fouced on the Starlight Grove. A small clearing in the north-eastern region of the Ossalimarian Empire which has a small collection of rocks that throughout the year highlights different constellations and stars forming different patterns focused by strange glass-like stones on the carved stone floor.   Each of the druids and rangers find themselves called to the starlight through their dreams, divine connection, or a natural pull towards it. If a druid arrives early in their life, whilst their powers are developing, they often find their abilities can be linked to the starlight nature of the grove. Additionally, there are some unique creatures that live around the grove linked with the idea of stars and starlight. Rangers of the circle often take these creatures as their companions, whilst druids often use their forms when changing shape.

Clothing

One distinctive feature of the Starfeather Circle is their unique form of dress. The clothing they wear is fashioned from a single set of threads that are said to be "made of magical starlight" plucked from the Grove itself. As a result, most druids or rangers have some form of glittering shine to their clothes, despite the use of natural dyes everywhere along their outfits. Most commonly, the clothing is dyed some shade of green, brown, or grey. However, some extravagent members of the circle have chosen many vast and vibrant colours over the years in honour of the bright and multicoloured patterns laid on the floor of the Grove throughout the seasons.

Relationships

Ossaman Tribes

From an external perspecitve, some consider that the Starfeather Circle and the Ossaman Tribes are distinct rivals who each are protecting their intentional part of nature. However, this is far from the truth, the Ossaman Tribes have a deep connection and respect for the various druidic circles that exist in the world. As a result, often a member of the Tribes who is on their Dragonflight finds themselves travelling to the Grove and communing with the Circle to learn about the constellations in the skies above them.   There are also some members of the Starfeather Circle and Ossaman Tribes who have travelled from one to the other based on the dreams that guide them. Some indicate that a natural spirit connects the two due to their proximity, however there has never been any historical evidence that this is the case. As a result, many people believe that the two follow along the same leyline and as a result are one in the same, two parts of the same whole.

Ossalimarian Empire

Some members of the Ossalimarian Empire have nothing but respect for the Starfeather Circle, acknowledging that their magic and connection is to the natural world that surrounds them rather than some arcane source that can be harnassed. However, this respect doesn't extend to all members of the empire. Some members of the Veritas Convention belive that the Grove can be harnassed and used as a ritual site for intense and powerful magic.   It is not uncommon for members of the Crownsguard and Soathaire to try to impose their own nature and means on the Grove, which often causes conflict with the Cricle. As a result, there are often moments of tension between the Cricle and Empire, leading to a somewhat adversarial relationship even when the two are at peace.

History

Founding

The full founding of the Starfeather Circle is relatively unknown, the tale of its founding being passed down from generation to generation. Even current members of the Circle are unsure if the claimed origin of the group is true.   The story passed down through generations claims that the original members of the Circle were a small sect of Druids called by a creature made entirely of starlight. This divine being embedded itself into the ground where the Starlight Grove now stands, transmuting their form into that of the seven stones that focus the starlight into the centre of the grove. In service of this creature, the druids solidified and enchanted the Grove and sworre an oath to protect it. The enchantments would call out to people chosen to become protectors of the Grove and create bonds that bind them.   Some scholars have attempted to link the supposed creature with several mythological creatures and even minor deities, but have yet found no clear connection. However, this has not stopped members of the Circle from trying to determine who the creature was and the reason for the creation of the Starlight Grove. Some believing that the Grove is a vault said to hold this creature, others thinking that it is a place of worship for this minor deity while they slumber underneath the grove.

I had some great images in my mind whilst reading this article. I love the idea of their clothing.

Congratulations on your successful participation and here is your little badge.   I really liked the idea of the constellation reflecting a druid's starlight nature. Also great were the mentions of clothing, known members, and their references to creatures of the grove. If you want to expand or improve the article, I would suggest putting the story at the beginning of your article and only then go into the details. Maybe you could expand the article with some images, a few quotes and examples of the creatures.
