Krelva

Krelva, the Ember King is an ancient Primordial Titan that was sealed away by members of the The Prime Pantheon during the Dawning.

Appearance and Symbols

Most depictions of Krelva have been created by bards and scholars based on the very few pieces of confirmed information from before the Age of Creation. Often depictions of Krelva have them looking like a ball of pure flames that are contained by a hulking set of armor made of rocks and volcanic gemstones. Often there are crowns or other strange forms that make up the rest of their face, with eyes of pure flames that flicker underneath their helmet.   Their symbol, among those who still worship the Ember King, is a Gold crown with a crimson gem to resemble the supposed ancient gemstone used by the deities to imprison Krelva into the Inner Foci. From there forcing it into the plane of Ignisa, where Krelva would become the reigning monarch, leading to his title of the Ember King.

Worship

There are very few who worship the primordial titans, particularly when it comes to the modern day. But Krelva's influence still reigns in the realms of the Giants, some of whome consider Krelva as their progenitor. Additionally, creatures from the Inner Foci of Ignisa, typically taking the form of fire-based elementals tend to worship Krelva as not only a King, but as their divine progenitor. These creatures supply Krelva with a fragment of divinity that allows them to both seek out those who he wishes to provide their patronage and it also allows for him to provide parts of his divine power to his clerics   In terms of mortals, there are limited numbers who act as worshipers of Krelva, partially because of their devisive nature against the whole of The Shattered Pantheon. Those who do worship Krelva have either formed cults that are chosen to take upon his worship, or they keep their worship a secret. Those who are more public about their worship usually face shunning from other religious groups in societies.   In Ossalimar, there are a group of dwarves who have formed a sect of worship around Krelva. As a result, they have been blessed with divine magic based around fire. The sect have a ritual which chooses among them to be granted stronger and further power, transforming them into a strange dwarvish elemental with a head of pure flames. This group, known as the Vryshna Clan are known to reside among the mountains of the Lorena Range, leading to some in the Ossalimarian Empire to belive they are actually a cursed clan of dwarves, cursed by members of the Dolvalyn Sovereignty.   In Fieldas, said to be the place that Krelva was last banished from this realm, some of the Steelwind Lords have taken up worship of Krelva, using this connection to develop a stronger sense of the elemental world. Their worship stems back many generations, and as a result, the Lords and their families are able to manipulate the element of fire, shaping it to their will. Some have taken this skill and developed further arcane powers and others have taken it to empower their martial prowess of both blade and body.

History

Pre-Dawning

Before The Dawning Krelva was claimed to be one of the most powerful primordial creatures in the whole realm. Often proclaimed in the few texts that survived as the Flamelord, Krelva was said to have caused deep immeasurable scars into the world, some of which were said to have been created by a combination of his large form and chunks of rocks that he flung across the planet.   Some stories claim that some of the were created from these rocks, leading to Krelva becoming a sort of creator god in the Lyrin culture, an immortal creature banished from this plane that created the islands that the people live on. The validity of this story is unconfirmed, but the large collection of volcanos on the islands lead many people to believe this is the case.   Other stories indicate that Krelva was the original inhabitant of Vilura, acting as the sovereign and lone ruler in the region, creating the mountains to contain his flame engulfed presence. If this is the case, then it goes to prove theories that Sovmora was settled upon one of the spells that hold the primordials captive. If this is the case, The Deceiver God's attack on the city would mean their goal was to release at least Krelva, if not all of the Primordial Titans.   Of all of the Pre-Dawning myths, the greatest surrounding Krelva is that he was directly responsible for splitting the continents of Nonvyrox into their separate pieces. Its unclear if this is true, but if so, it would indicate that Krelva possesses a large amount of power, or influence over other powerful Primordial Titans. One example of their influence is their direct connection with Roxh, Jhyaxhla, and Ovran, with whom its believed they split the landmasses of Nonvyrox into domains that each could control. in doing so, it's believed that their were only four continents, each under the direct influence of these Primordial Titans.

The Dawning

During The Dawning, Krelva was a thorn in the side of The Prime Pantheon. In some cases, its said that he caused direct injury to several of the deities, including apparently burning the flesh of Disaki and causing the red pigmentation to his skin. Alongside this, some myths claim that Krelva burnt off the face of Pundras, leading to their name of the Faceless One.   Krelva was a general among other Titans, acting as one of the main commanders and leaders in the war against the gods. Krelva themself created powerful elemental creatures and imbued regions with thick volcanic rocks that swarmed down from the skies. In becoming a leader, many of the less powerful Titans looks up to Krelva, empowering them with their first essence of divinity, granting them greater strength against the deities.   Over the course of the war, it was clear that Krelva, Ro, The Wundra, and Ovran were all going to be sevre threats to the deities, who had planned to kill all the Titans to claim the world for themselves. As a result, they schemed not to kill these powerful creatures, but instead trap them within their own planar prisons where they could swell and grow without affecting the plane they were trying to build. The final conflict was said to be a four pronged approach. Djanrol, Pundras. and Tyril were the three known gods sent to destroy Krelva, a battle which has been spoken about as legend by bards. The trio worked in unison as well trained warriors, each empowered by the powers of the other to strike at Krelva an weaken them. it is unknown how the binding spells were placed upon the Titans, but simultaneously all four were trapped in their own planes, bound by the ancient god of magic.

The Quadripartite Accord

It is said that the four Primordial Titans that were sealed had made an eternal pact to each other before the gods were able to strike against them. In this pact, they each agreed that should one or all of them fall, they would find some way to bring them back so they could each hold the power they possessed once more. In agreeing to this, each of them devoted a small shards of their elemental power to be hidden by each of the other three. In the case the gods wished to destroy them, these shards were all hidden without the knowledge of the Titan who gave up the shard. As a resul, Krelva has no idea where those shards of power reside, bar one.   Once they were banished to their prison planes, one of the shards of each of the Primordial Titans began to expand and create a rift to the planes that their source was trapped in. These elemental gates would expand slowly, eventually expanding to the point that the mortals became aware of these rifts. Powerful druids were charged by the Guardian Dragons to protect these rifts. Each of these druids eventually became the founding members of the Ossaman Tribes, with one druid being tasked with searching for the remaining shards of power. Once unsuccessful, they linked themselves with Sovmora in an aim to oversee the spells binding the Primordial Titans.

I love the description of him. I can imagine some amazing art or tapestries of him. I also really like that there are lots of myths around him, like some that say he burnt the skin of Disaki and made the other god the Faceless One, but the implication that not all myths agree.

Yeah - I was really inspired by the ideas behind Greek Mythology for The Dawning. There are plenty of stories, but finding the truth through them is difficult.
