Author's Notes

*Note from the Author: Hey Enablers!  An article about a BDSM club would be remiss without a reminder of the BDSM community motto: Safe, Sane, Consensual. <3   Hard Knot is a fictional location that--while based on BDSM venues in our reality--is written for your enjoyment and entertainment. My clubs, scene spaces, and tales on Luridity contain aliens and shifters and superheroes and freakin' demigods whose physical and mental and even extranatural capabilities and tolerances may be vastly different from an actual human's.  As such, some equipment and other elements in my stories will not reflect a true club or...Earthling...experience.  Aside from anatomical differences, please keep in mind:   Most BDSM clubs in our reality do not allow drinks, drugs, OR penetration, and while intimacy, atmosphere, experimentation, and enjoying the view are certainly benefits worth anticipating on your own or with your partner(s), all clubs have strict rules of their own regarding protocols and offenses. Many clubs offer education nights or require one or more classes be attended prior to membership, where one can learn those rules and protocols as well as etiquette (for instance, in a place where various intimate kinks may be on simultaneous display, it's encouraged to simply move to observe elsewhere if a scene is not for you.  A BDSM club is a space safe from kink-shaming, not a place to "yuck" someone else's "yum".).  Some places are casual, some are freaky, some are fancy.  Monitors or other employees are often on hand to explain or demonstrate equipment you have interest in trying.   Some clubs have rules against even touching someone without their permission, considering it an offense worth a permanent ban.   No BDSM club looks favorably on nonconsensual anything.

The Author's Note is a good touch. The article is an engaging sketch of the club. I like articles that make me want to know more about the world or characters. I am curious as to what offerings the menu provides in setting, costume and equipment! The field is wide and deep, sometimes with different views on the same words. One gets the impression of mostly "soft" session. What are the rules and view on "hard" play in S&M at the club? The outright prohibited - such as risky behaviors or practices like breath play?

So, every time I read a Luridity article I'm like, "I want to visit this place!" and that was certainly true here. I love the descriptions of the bouncers, especially.

Not bouncers, the masters and mistresses on duty. Sorry! I'm silly.
