House of Knowledge

This article is depicting a potential future of this world. Some events in here might not have happened yet and will be changed by the actions of the players involved in this world. Until these campaigns have concluded, this article will exist in a superposition between existance and non-existance.   Some version of this article will survive, but who knows what it will be when all of this is over

Even if it's just the second biggest library on the continent, it's sheer size is astonishing. You can find books about nearly anything here. Stories, myths, history, magic, divines, peoples, countries, plants, creatures, philosophy, maths - everything. And that's not even the best part. The scientific and philosophical discussions, the poetry and story stages - it's just an amazing place of learning and culture.
The House of Knowledge is a public temple to Elmos and one of the biggest libraries on the continent - right after the Monastery of Chronicles near Kamorda. It's a hub of learning and research, but also creative writing and poetry.

The Library

The library is one of the biggest collection of knowledge in the known world. It's a big undescript building in the middle of Prevena with no windows or other ways to let natural light enter and extends far underground.   The library is segmented into multiple section. Generally speaking, the further underground a section is, the more restricted is its access. The "Volume" is the public section of the library, and is open to everybody without restriction. If you provide a deposit, you are even allowed to take home the books and scriptures. You will find many myths, legends, poems and stories here, but also basic knowledge on all kinds of topics.   The "Codex" is a public but restricted section. Anybody can ask for books from this section, but you need special permission to enter this area. This permission is rather easy to aquire by being a recognized member of the local scientific, philosophical or creative circles.   The "Tomes" are the largest section of the library and restricted to only faculty members. These contain all kinds of deeper knowledge and ancient history, some books being thausands of years old. Only in rare cases might a non faculty member gain access to a book from here.   The "Scrolls" are the deepest and most secretive part. Only a select few high ranking faculty members have access to the knowledge contained within here. It's one of the most well protected areas of the city, maybe the entire Golden Coast, enforced with ancient wards and spells. Many have rumoured about the contents of these scriptures, but not much is actually known. It's assumed that these shelves contain some of the deepest secrets of this universe, and it's probably for the best that they are locked up down there.

The Stage

Everyday the House of Knowledge holds various events on a great stage. These events range from poetry slams and story readings, over scientific and philosophical discussions, to plays and theater. Attending any of these events as a viewer is always free, and everybody is welcome to watch. So of them even allow anybody to join the stage and participate.
