Overview
Former Hiragi Clan yakuza , starting over in Nonogawa after being released from jail in Tokyo. This is his best chance and he knows he's got a lot to make up for from his past. He tries to keep a low profile, but that's hard when his tattoos show through his shirt after it gets wet, and the town's dowager, Nakamura Hisako, has it out for him.

After his dad died from overwork caring for him and his hospitalized mother and his uncle never showed up to get him, he joined the mob at the age of 14. Otsuka Hiro was his big brother/mentor.

When Umeji joined the Hiragi clan, Hiro became is mentor/big brother. Hiro taught him how to fight, blackmail companies, and survive in the underground.

I thoroughly enjoyed Tatsuya in the novel. He felt like an extremely relatable character, and being privvy to his inner monologue and thoughts really helped sell him to me as a solid, well-developed character. Not my favorite, but really, really good!
