  The Mesapõ region in the Kingdom of Sarala is well-known for it's wide variety of delicious sandwiches. The Mesapõ sandwich recipes have become a traditional part of a proper meal. They are eaten as appetisers and snacks.
 

Rye Bread Culture

Rye bread has for centuries played an important role in the lives of all Saralians. Giving someone a loaf of your bread is seen as a token of appreciation from one person to another. Bread plays a valuable part in marriages, funerals, religious ceremonies, and numerous other events.
An essential ingredient of nearly all of the recipes is the traditional local rye bread. Presenting inferior bread to guests is considered a great offence.
  In each household, it's the mother or grandmother's duty to teach her descendants the recipes. Although the Saralians have their own writing system, most of the commoners are illiterate and therefore rely on oral traditions instead of recipe books.
