Gadirédin

Lord of Luck and Lechery

Sometimes I wonder what the Lord of Lechery thinks of the effects that he has had on alchenkind. Does he regret leading so many men and women away from their faith, or is he still just revelling in it?
— Fúilin Alalvú
Gadirédin, the Lord of Luck and Lechery, is the son of Lirúlinis, the Defender of Families, and an unknown mortal, according to the Pantheon of the Dawn. During his mother’s pregnancy, Heláia, his grandmother and the Lady of Life, blessed Lirúlinis so that her children could be born as gods. His family had initially hoped that Gadirédin would become a god responsible for guiding mortal beings in political and economic affairs, but he had drifted from that path, turning into a deity that embodies many of the blights that have ailed alchen societies for over a thousand years.

Head of Hedonism

Everyone always demands our time, work, or love, but Gadirédin doesn’t give a shit about all of that. He just wants us to be free and merry and to do whatever our hearts’ desire. He ain’t just the god of lechery, but a god of true freedom!
— Qarílyanail Huín
Were the alcheni still as devoted to the gods as they'd been centuries ago, Gadirédin would likely be the greatest of their gods. Decadence and self-indulgence are so rampant in alchen realms, especially in the Exalted Republic of Helendriel and the Sehenian People, that people would flock to the Lord of Lechery to fulfil their desires. Hedonism, however, fills a man or woman's heart with abundance, leaving little room for the gods and their demands of servitude. Among those that have managed to remain faithful to their old gods, Gadirédin is a disgrace, often blamed for the downfall of the pantheon.

Cult of Gadirédin

Gadirédin's followers are a strange lot as the vast majority of them don't even believe that the god they follow exists. People join the cult because it functions as a society of like-minded hedonists who organise regular activities aimed to please the depraved desires of their members.   The cult is incredibly popular in large settlements with youthful populations, but they have a harder time organising in certain rural areas where those that are still faithful are a bit more common. The 2nd Imperium of Valhértis, a country aiming to restore the gods and imperators of old, has gone as far as to banning the cult and persecuting its members.

He sounds like a Problem. I love the idea that most of his cult doesn't even believe that he exists.
