The Handmade Handoff

One of the cutest and most admirable traditions when a leader visits in the ethereal city of Minas, the Handoff is where small handmade gifts are given to important leaders or famous people visiting the city.

Gifts Made With Love

The most popular and most accepted item to gift these visitors are ones that are handmade, with love of course. The handmade gifts are a symbol of honour and support for the visitor, and the more handmade (whatever that means, I don't know) the gift is the more honour is bestowed on them.   Often children are the ones who give gifts to visitors. Parents believe that children should be the ones to give gifts, as it gives them great memories and they bring more good luck than adults, thanks to their innocent minds and personalities.

Fire Petunias

The most popular handmade items are fire petunias, named after the flower and colour. Fire petunias are large circular designs, made of orange petals weaved together with a small gemstone embedded in the centre. Fire petunias are practically worshipped within Minas, and I was even gifted one once by a friend in the city, which I have hanging up in my house.

Visitors

Visitors targeted range greatly, from famed actors and actresses, world leaders, famous faces. These visitors will always come into the city down Silver Avenue, the most prestigious road in the city, reserved for the most deserving (and the DHA Headquarters).   Those with handmade gifts will line up along the street edges, all crowded behind fences as these famous people walk straight past them, occasionally reaching out and taking a handmade gift. Each visitor responds differently; some are extremely grateful, we love to see it, yet some are less than so, we do not love to see it.
