Light shines through the moving shapes of the glittering window, its panes enchanted to show a continuous story. The colors shift as the story of a great tree is told, waving branches and leaves scattering motes of light across the marble floors. The sunlight bouncing off the scales of the cleric in the room scatters emeralds on the floor, but not before illuminating those that have come to seek
something.
Some seek faith, justice,
redemption, some seek out this place to find quiet when none can be found in their heart. The scattered lights from the windows are calming, a soft, warm touch like butterfly wings kissing skin. Everyone comes for a moment of peace, of quiet, of reflection. Judgment will not be found here unless it comes from your own heart. That is the end this shrine brings to those in turmoil, its tranquility breeds morality, justice, redemption.
While the Yggdrasil Shrine of
Yllvalion is meant as a place of worship for the god
Ygg, it is much more than that. The cleric of the shrine turns away no one, how could she when those that come to her face twisted hearts and are seeking something her home can provide? If she could find redemption through a good of her own here who is not the great tree, then others may find their
justice here as well.
When the
Ylmaris Citadel was built, a room on the second floor was set aside to serve as a shrine to the god
Ygg, a god of life and nature that is heavily worshipped by the
Knights of Yggdrasil. As the order grew, the purpose of this room shifted to a place of worship, redemption, and reflection for all that would visit
Yllvalion and the
Northern Outposts.
Once a shrine wholly dedicated to the god
Ygg, the Yggdrasil Shrine has changed greatly throughout the millennia since the
Ylmaris Citadel was built. Expansions to the room through magical means have allowed more people to enter the shrine and attend services throughout the years, and have increased visitation nearly tenfold in the last few decades that the place was a dedicated shrine.
Since the days of the
Eldritch War, the Yggdrasil Shrine has moved away from being a dedicated shrine. Now, those that follow all gods are welcome to the shrine for a moment of peace and reflection. Services dedicated to
Ygg are held frequently in the
Ylmaris Monastery, but the Yggdrasil Shrine is a place of no judgment where all can find what they are seeking.
Due to the shrine's
Dragonkin caretaker and other oddities of
Yllvalion, the Yggdrasil Shrine is a common place visited by tourists. Rumors about
Jorann Prilmil is often what originally brings people in, but many stay for the calm and silence of the shrine as well as the decorative windows.

The shrine is kept by a
Dragonkin cleric,
Jorann Prilmil. She was once a wanderer that often traveled through
Yllvalion and the northern reaches of the
Spine of Kallex. The former caretaker of the shrine noted that
Jorann carried a troubled heart, one that sought redemption, even if she would not admit it. For years the two crossed paths, eventually becoming great friends.
Jorann found the redemption she sought in the shrine and the repetition of the life she could lead there. Taken in by the previous caretaker, she became a cleric of the god
Kallex, finding her place in the discipline that her god asked of her. Since then, she has strived to create an atmosphere in the shrine where all can experience the justice she found here.
The glass windows sound beautiful. I would love to see them. I like the idea of the place being full of peace, tranquility, and redemption.
