Kyneth-Gul (Ken-eth Gull)

One of the Nine Horrific Lords

Kyneth-Gul, also known as the Infinitely Shattered One, is the least of the nine Horrific Lords of the Outer Reaches. Their goal is to bring the whole of reality into splintered segments of insanity that exist as infinite reflections that have lost all forms of self-recognition.   This creature lives separately from the reality that we know in a space that has been termed the Mirror Dimension, from its point of view our reality is so small and limited that it only exists as if it were a reflection on the surface of a mirror. In order to interact with our world, it projects a reflection of itself into our reality, though this avatar can be destroyed it is nigh impossible to affect the actual creature that dwells far from our reality. It is only possible to interact with a shattered portion of Kyneth-Gul unless you are to enter his dimension, which is a task far worse than dealing with the devastation or terror that his mere projection provides. Destroying the reflection that Kyneth-Gul projects into our world is akin to disturbing a reflection on crystal clear water, it is disrupted and becomes distorted but if the creature will itself to linger then it is only a matter of time.   During the Eldritch War, Kyneth-Gul was the nemesis of the Elves who loved all things beautiful and gave the creature many ways reach out to them. It is said that more Elves fell under the mental attacks of this Horrific Lord than any other. Kyneth-Gul grew curious during this time and would often reach with expansive tendrils from reflective surfaces to ensure and remove mortal creatures from Isekai. Those ensnared would meet their end over the course of what they experienced as a millennium though little time would pass at all for our own reality.   It is said that this creature hails from the infinite void, its true form too vast for mortal minds to comprehend and its consciousness a thing that defies the boundaries of what is possible or describable. Classic iconography of the cults that believe it to be their overlord includes writhing, broken tendrils of glass, that permeate living creatures and natural reflective surfaces. The most common entrance depiction of this creature is an emergence from still water or polished glass. Those that can recount the Eldritch War will recoil in their attempts to remember seeing even the projected form of the monster as if it still lives on in their mind and is not truly separated from the world of Isekai despite the efforts taken by mortals and gods. Despite this, the form of Kyneth-Gul is malleable and it will often adopt the form that intrigues it the most or furthers its experimentations on the minds of mortals.   When Kyneth-Gul influences the mind of a mortal without specific intention they will find themselves slowly being scattered and splintered between realities, our own and the Mirror Dimension. At first, it will be somewhat manageable. A mortal will find themselves on two sides of a looking glass, able to recognize themselves and both realities simultaneously. Sharing one mind and one experience as they are divided between two realms simultaneously, the experience might be imagined as disorienting at first. Slowly the mind will splinter, doubling as the mortal recognizes another reflection and gains another perspective for their consciousness all while exponentially increasing the stress on body, mind, and spirit as they are stretched slowly across splintering dimensions. The process has been described as placing two mirrors across from each other and then perceiving not only your reflection but your perspective from each mirror within the reflection, this spirals on infinitely as the consciousness eventually is blurred beyond recognition as an individual. The mercy of ceasing to exist cannot come quickly enough as the consciousness loses all sense of direction and recognition among the infinite splinters of the Mirror Dimension. If the mortal does not snap immediately from madness then it creates an entity known as a Kyn.   Kyns are husks, creatures that wander the infinite Mirror Dimension and freely move throughout the strange halls and shattered pathways though they lack the will to emerge on their own. They resemble a vaguely humanoid shape with dimensions similar to those of their original form but they are translucent,   The only way they can leave and return to the mortal realm is by catching a glimpse of a connection between the Mirror Dimension and the reality that we know. Any reflective surface that a humanoid could view themselves in fully is one that could potentially connect itself to the Mirror Dimension. If a Kyn observes a mortal observing their reflection something inside of them beckons them to chase, catch, and drag said mortal through the mirror and create another of its kind. These creatures have lost the ability of self-recognition and harbor an innate hatred of creatures that still possess it. Because they lack the ability of self-recognition they are also limited in their understanding of navigation, choosing to wander unless their attention has been called to a specific creature or task.   Kyn answer the call of Kyneth-Gul, searching for more to pull into its domain and spread the shattered sanity.

Body Features

Kyneth-Gul has only been observed as a reflection or as an entity reaching from its dimension into our own by way of a reflective surface. Those who have ventured into the Mirror Dimension have only been able to confirm what we already know. The reach of the entity manifests as long tendrils that appear to be made of glass or twisted metal, though they are massive in size they can morph their size and length according to the creature's desires. The intriguing part about these tendrils is not only their ability to manifest from any reflective surface that is large enough but also their ability to manifest from themselves as they are covered in large reflective surfaces. It is unclear whenever a new tendril is manifesting from a reflective surface or just another instance of the same due to how the Mirror Dimension functions.   Conventional weaponry has varied results against the body of this creature. In some instances, it has inflicted considerable damage and shattered smaller tendrils completely but the shards give way to more manifestations of tendrils similar to a hydra. Magic has limited results as well, the creature has incredibly powerful reflective properties and will naturally divert a number of spells and powers in a similar fashion to an enchanted mirror. In terms of physical strength, it has no issues destroying stone, metal, and magical structures alike with a particular ability to bypass most enchanted barriers as if they were not present.
