Short Story: the Dark Lord and the Kitten

The Dark Lord is on the verge of conquering the entire country and crowning himself emperor, and Aurélie is doing her best to serve the war effort by crafting protective magical jewellery for him. Unfortunately, this is when a traitor in the lord's inner circle chooses to unveil their plot to assassinate him and seize power for themselves.
And stopping and unmasking them would certainly be easier if the Dark Lord would stop paying attention to a tiny kitten menace for more than a few minutes...

Settings: the Dark Lord's manor

The Dark Lord lives in an extensive domain, hidden away from his enemies with powerful wards. This domains include his luxurious manor as well as barracks for his troops, training fields, labs etc.
All of his followers who have been made outlawed are invited to stay, provided that they can offer a monetary compensation to the cause or if they offer themselves as servants. Also living on the ground are said servants and the Dark Lord's top scientists, secretaries and generals.

Characters

Aurélie

Aurélie is one of the Dark Lord top scientists and is making protective jewellery for him to help with the war. She admires him a lot and he has her full loyalty, even if he wastes precious magical resources on making sure his kitten is fully protected.
