Magisys

A Magical Technology Company

Magisys is one of the largest Magical Technology companies in Atharia. It was the company to create the world's first magical communication device, the Arcomm; which allows Hefflings to talk at long distances. Magisys are also famed for creating magic detection devices, Planeshifter device for Planeships and many more wonderful items.

The Enchanter

The company was not founded, but envisioned by Thran K'Shar. An elven enchanter and inventor, who had a loving husband and wife, and was a father of 3. In January 972, he opened a store known as K'Shar's Magishop, selling various commissions to enchant items. Then in December 972 the first pair of Stone Phones were sold, which he then created more of since. These early form of communication devices became rather popular, and Thran used his fortune to create even more magical gadgets to improve the convenience of the day-to-day life of everyone.

"I just thought; wouldn't it be nice if I could speak to my husband and wife, whilst I'm in my workshop.
That way I could tell me to put the kettle on, as I'm coming home; or don't bother making me dinner as I will be home late; or a simple, I love you."
Thran K'Shar, in an interview with a reporter of the Towncryer on the launch of the Stone Phone

However, in April 974, Thran disappeared whilst conducting experiements for a device which is not yet known to the public (see Vanishing Act below).

Magishop

Before the invention of the Stone Phone, Thran opened a store, K'Shar's Magishop. A grand store filled with magical trinkets and devices. It was built as a family business to help finance both living and research costs. The store was located in one of Dovaria's major cities, Farewood; before it was closed down after Thran's disappearance.

Vanishing Act

Later in 974, a Towncryer reported the mysterious disappearance of the great enchanter Thran K'Shar. For weeks, articles were published on rumours and conjecture of his 'vanishing act' being a cover up, however his husband and wife insists; "it was an experiment gone wrong."

According to them, Thran was developing a new kind of device, which even they did not know of. There were no research papers or design blueprints, as Thran seemed to have taken them with him. As it currently stands, the case is still ongoing; though Varius Storggunson is petitioning for the case to close.

Whatever happened, Thran is still missing. So, in memory of such a loved enchanter, the city of Farewood erected a monument with a torch on top. This tower is since known as Thran's Beacon, a burning lamp to help Thran come home to the family and friends he had left behind.

Magisys

In December 974, Magisys was founded after Thran's husband and wife sold the designs & research papers to Thran's close friend, Varius Storggunson. Varius began to continue the study and development on various magical devices and systems; such as the Magic Detection Devices for the Alliance and the Arcomm.

Technologies

The Stone Phones

Now also known as the Arcomm devices, this technology allows people to communicate at a great distance, even through planes. It is with these devices Planeship captains can communicate with operators within the planes to grant shifting and docking access.

Magic Detection Devices

Many Nations have the need to detect any magic user and if any spells have been casted, as they have laws to control magic. The Alliance of the Planes is one example, who have made it law to be licensed to cast spells and use magical items.
