Dolr'ran's Flesh Condition in Ethnis | World Anvil

Dolr'ran's Flesh

Just another of the many plagues of Jhoutai. It is so odd to see these Sazashi talk about this infectious fungal parasites likes it no different then talking about the weather.

As beautiful and alien as this planet is, the sheer amount of diseases that we could no doubt succumb to is terrifying. Dol'rr'ans Flesh sends shudders down my spine, thinking of my skin being hijacked by a colony of mushrooms.

Dolr'ran's Flesh is a condition that is caused as a result of Feather Fungus infection, in which feathery sprouts from the fungus erupt from the flesh of the infected.

It is contagious if not removed quickly, and can be fatal if its growth spreads into vital organs by lack of treatment or unfortunate growth patterns.

It is named after Dolr'ran, a legendary adventurer from the Procession Era who returned home with feathers covering his flesh. The first known infection.

Yeah, I just found a feather spore growing out from beneath my glove wrist, it itches like a mosquito bite and stings like a bee. I hate it.

That and I just feel real uneasy knowing that even the plants here are eager to eat you from the inside out. Guide said he can treat it with some slog and tweezers, fingers cross.

Outbreaks

While Dolr'ran's Flesh is easy to manage at its beginning stages, if left untreated it can grow out of control. Without quick intervention it can claim a host and then continue to spread.

Entire settlements have been condemned due to uncontrolled outbreaks of Dolr'rans Flesh, and only extensive quarantine, treatment, and fungicides can clean outbreaks.

Treatment

For minor cases of a few inches and not deep set, shaving any fur and using a slog bath can help pull and kill the spores from the skin. If the infestation is deep into the flesh, then surgical intervention and fungicides are required.

It is advised to not touch the infected area as doing so can spread the spores or cause infecftion. If no treatment is available, wrap the infected area in cloth to stifle any spore spread. Change the bandage daily.
