Oranos (OH-rah-nohs)

Greek/Roman Deity

Oranos

Oranos, also known as the Sky Father, is one of the primordial deities, embodying the vast expanse of the heavens and the infinite sky. He is often depicted as distant, watching over the cosmos with an unyielding and ancient gaze. His dominion is the firmament, where stars burn and clouds drift, representing both the physical sky and the higher order of the universe. Oranos is said to have been among the first to emerge from the primordial chaos, shaping the very framework of the world alongside Gaia, the Earth Mother. Together, they birthed the Titans, but Oranos, fearing their power, cast them into the depths of Tartarus. This act of betrayal led to his eventual downfall at the hands of his son, Cronus, who would rise against him.   Though Oranos no longer holds the power he once did, his presence is still felt throughout the universe. The stars in the night sky are said to be his eyes, ever-watchful, ensuring the balance of the celestial bodies and the natural order.

Sexuality

Oranos loves like the sky—distant, overarching, and ever-present. His intimacy is cosmic and abstract, more force than form, yet unmistakably divine. He is drawn to beauty in motion, to what rises and reaches. To be touched by his affection is to feel the breath of the heavens, impersonal yet impossibly vast.
