I was born under the expansive skies of California, a beginning that promised endless possibilities and a promise I would never be alone (I am a twin). At nine, my journey took a pivotal turn as my family moved to Arkansas, setting the stage for a life characterized by adaptation, exploration, and the relentless pursuit of understanding.
My path led me to the military at eighteen, a chapter that instilled in me discipline and a profound sense of duty. This experience ignited a spark of wanderlust within me, propelling me across the globe and eventually to homes in the United Kingdom, Florida, Texas, California, Arkansas, and finally Illinois in 2001. My travels didn't stop at domestic borders; I've ventured into 26 countries, each leaving an indelible mark on my soul and shaping the person I am today.
My career began in healthcare, where I dedicated the first decade+ years of my life to the service of others. As I approached thirty, a shift in curiosity (and far too many funerals) and ambition led me to transition into technology, eventually culminating in a role in Legal IT, in a CSI role. This journey through various professional landscapes has been both challenging and enriching, allowing me to leverage my unique blend of skills in unexpected and innovative ways.
On a personal note, I've been married twice, to a woman and then to a man, navigating the complexities of love and relationships with the same determination and commitment I apply to every other aspect of my life. While I don't have children, my life is filled with the warmth and complexity of extended family, offering me a rich tapestry of relationships that span continents, cultures, and diversity.
Navigating life on the spectrum (unknown to me until recently) has its unique challenges, notably in the realm of empathy, which for me, has been a skill to learn rather than an intuitive response. Yet, this journey has taught me much about myself and and even more about others, fostering a deep sense of patience, understanding, and ultimately, observation.
My worldbuilding project is more than a hobby; it's a journal of my friends, the ElSod, a reflection of the journeys they've embarked upon. Through this creative endeavor, I aim to capture the essence of their adventures, the depth of our relationships, and the boundless imagination that guides us.
As I continue to navigate the complexities of life, my story is one of perpetual growth, learning, and exploration. Each experience, from the countries I've visited to the diverse roles I've held, contributes to the rich narrative of my life. It's a testament to the beauty of diversity, the importance of resilience, and the endless possibilities that unfold when we dare to dream.
