"Well," Doran said, "I think it's Neyush that moves around the sun, but it travels across the sky each day, yeah—that's what 'days' are."

"On Rudeska it doesn't."

"The sun doesn't move? At all?"

"No. The sun stays on the Dawn Side, where the trolls come from. We live on the Dusk Side. In the middle is the Belt."

Background

The Dawn Side is the side of the tidally locked Rudeska that faces the sun. Aside from some minor gravitational wobbles, the same vast expanse faces the sun all year round.

Too hot to handle. No, really

Although there are many trolls who technically call the Dawn their home, thanks to a symbiotic relationship with the Troll Lichen, even they stay relatively near the verdant Belt.

A load of hot air

The effect of an unmoving sun over one area of a planet is devastating. The centre of the Dawn Side is a literal hot spot, so much so that water boils on the surface. Huge winds constantly rush in from the Dusk Side, thanks to the constant thermal upheaval.
