Drake's Dozen

Revolution is coming

Industrial, magical, political; the dual-moon planet of Neyush is on the precipice of change.

People of many different species, reeling from the effects of the Great War almost two centuries ago, are accelerating into a new age, fueled by innovative discoveries and forgotten secrets. The event that ended the war and decimated an entire people is referred to as The Blink.

No-one knows how or why it happened, though many have theories.

Little fish, big pond

The Blink also brought change to the Dozen.

Empty metaphysical Spheres of existence, or the homes of unknowable, ancient gods? Opportunities for life-enhancing magitech, or eldritch traps waiting to ensnare the curious? Aspects of reality as normal as time and gravity, or complex creations of the Drake herself?

Whatever the Dozen truly are, something is different now. Something changed with the Blink. Something is coming to Neyush.

Are the secrets behind the Dozen the key to saving it, or the catalyst for its doom?

Spectres

You'll never see them coming

No, you're not listening! They didn't just leave or hide or something, they disappeared.

Very little is known for certain about the Spectres, except for two things:

  1. They are a group of young vena who make no attempt to hide their faces, but no-one on the planet, including other vena, has been able to identify one.

  2. They appear to be mercenary assassins, although the knowledge of how to contact them is rare, to say the least.

Public Agenda

They are responsible for a series of high profile political assassinations and have apparently only been active for a few years. The target of the contract can be surrounded by guards or locked in an impenetrable cave with a single heavy door, and the Spectres will complete the job, always with a knife.

As they don't wear any face coverings, the group is apparently quite small as the same elves have been witnessed multiple times. Such witnesses describe their accents as so odd that they are difficult even for native Elveña speakers, but despite having their faces seen and their voices heard, not one Spectre has ever been captured.

Even their name isn't really known - the term 'Spectres' was coined by the people of Yenagun to describe them more easily. It came from the way they seem able to get anywhere with ease and disappear without a trace, leaving only a faint chill in the air.

History

Unknown until very recently, they became infamous after their involvement in the Eight Day War.
