Jiwebvë (d͡ʒiˈwebvə)

I don't know what we would have done, had Salzha not taken up the mantle of command. She has improved morale and convinced the majority of us, myself included, that we can and will survive here and find a way home.

This planet may have little in the way of natural resources, but we have settled a base camp and constructed some shelters out of ice. We just need to ration the wood we managed to collect before we were chased back into the snow.

We are vena. Our ancestors thrived in the icy wastes on Neyush that others considered inhospitable. We will do the same here.

Tomorrow, I will join a small team with the aim of collecting more firewood and scouting the area for other resources that we might use to improve this camp. Not that 'tomorrow' means anything. The days here never seem to shift.

We've named the campsite Jiwebvë. Hopefully we will only be here as long as it takes to work out a way home.

As I write this, Liña is sleeping soundly next to the embers of a dying fire. Yesterday, I was afraid for both of us. Now, I am hopeful. Hopeful that we will not die. We will not let the humans and tilkens banish us to another planet. We will see home again.

Background

A Snap Decision

When the Blink happened, the majority of Neyush's vena population vanished instantly. Most assumed it was the result of some magical attack, and that the vena had been killed, although no-one claimed ownership for the attack. With uncertainty and fear of another attack, and the vena unable to hold their own in a continued war, the Blink Treaty was signed, and the Great War finished.

In fact, the vena who had disappeared found themselves instantly transported to another planet, along with smatterings of belongings and chunks of destroyed buildings. No-one knows how or why these vena were targeted and teleported, but, with no other option left to them, they survived. Sheltering in broken chunks of transported architecture and makeshift tents, the spot where they landed gradually became a permanent city.

Back and Forth

Through a huge stroke of luck, the vena on Rudeska managed to find a Sphere Stone linked to the Nomad. With this, they were able to create a device to allow travel back to Neyush.

This travel is time limited and restricted to a specific location on each planet: just outside Yenagun on Neyush, and just outside Jiwebvë on Rudeska. Pfin, the vena who invented the teleporters, suspects that they mirror the journey that he himself underwent when the Blink happened.

New Home, Who Dis?

In Rudeskan Elveñan, "Jiwebvë" roughly translates as "the place to which we return".

It started as a functional description, but the name has stuck after almost sixteen decades of the vena being trapped on Rudeska.

Demographics

As a settlement born of the necessity of rehoming vena displaced by the Blink, Jiwebvë is entirely populated by vena. Even if other people somehow made their way over to Rudeska, the harsh, cold climate of the Dusk Side would prevent anyone but the most determined humans and shifters from spending any length of time there.
