White Dragon, Young |
In the hail of the blizzard, you quickly realize you are not alone. You don't have the time or wherewithal to react before the snowy ground heaves and, from below your very feet, emerges a great scaled beast of pearly white. On your back, you see it's wings unfurl, it's icicle-like spines extend as it looks you over. Not as an enemy, but as prey.
Although these dragons have blue eyes from time to time, they are not to be confused with The White Dragon of Blue Eyes made famous elsewhere. That is an entire other creature, actually. Because why not.

Features |
Within all dragons is a core of magic attuned to an element. This Affinity Core affects their natural weapons and other features they may have, and will be automatically added to their features and actions.
White Dragons are attuned to the element of Ice, gaining affinity from the very notion of cold and biting winters.
Aura of Chilblains : ~2.0
The element of coldness can affect the natural processes in a slowing, coagulating way, and the magic in a White Dragon supplements this.
After the White Dragon uses it's Energy Breath weapon, or the temperature around it drops sufficiently (to hazard levels), the dragon may use an action / ◈ to gain a 20 ft chilling aura for 1d4 rounds. They may turn this aura off with another ◈.
All creatures within the aura that are not resistant or immune to Cold or Shadow damage, or do not have the Fire trait, take 8 Cold damage (or an amount equal to TL) at the end of their turn. Those who took any of this damage do not gain any benefit from Healing effects, items, or abilities. Light and Brightness effects are not enough to negate this anti-healing.
Unnatural Chill : ~3.0
Creatures that take Cold Damage from this creature lose an amount of movement speed on their turns equal to 10 ft (or 5 x this creature's Half-Proficiency). This effect does not stack, but the affected creature regains this lost Movement at the end of a turn where they haven't taken any Cold damage.
Furthermore, Creatures who are Bloodied take double the Cold damage this creature deals. This extra damage is calculated separately from the normal cold damage, happens immediatelly after the first instance, and will not reduce an enemy's HP below 1.
Actions |
The White Dragon spends actions to attack enemies with their natural weapons. They fight intelligently, and will try to position themselves to surprise or grievously harm their enemies.Dragon Bite | ◈ | Melee Weapon Attack, 10 ft | +10 to hit | Hit: 15 ( 2d8+6 ) Piercing damage + 4 ( 1d6 ) Cold
Dragon Claws | ◈ | Melee Weapon Attack, 10 ft | +10 to hit | Hit: 15 ( 2d8+6 ) Slashing damage + 4 ( 1d6 ) Cold
Dragon Tail | ◈ | Melee Weapon Attack, 10 ft | +9 to hit | Hit: 15 ( 2d8+6 ) Bludgeoning damage + 4 ( 1d6 ) Cold
Energy Breath Weapon, r2 : ~6.0|2⥣|1d6⟳| | ◈-◈◈◈ | Targets Reflex
The dragon exhales a jet of energy based on their Affinity Core that makes every creature in a targeted attempt a Reflex saving throw. The DC is equal to 17 (or 10 + Proficiency + CON). Each creature that fails takes 44 8d8 Cold damage (or, damage equal to 1d8 x TL). On a successful save and critically successful save, they take half or no damage, respectively.
The targeted area starts as either a 30 ft long, 5 ft wide line or a 15 ft wide cone (the dragon chooses on use). The dragon may spend more ◈s to augment the breath weapon, adding another 30 / 15 ft (respectively) to the length of the breath per ◈, or widening the breathe's line/angle by another 10 ft per ◈.
Escalation⥣ and Recharge⟳
Escalation⥣: This action only starts being used after Escalation 2, or Round 2. This creature's Escalation count goes up each time the creature becomes Blockstunned.
Recharge⟳: Once used, this action takes 1d6 rounds before it can be used again. This count goes down once per round each time the dragon critically strikes a target with with a Natural Weapon.
Tail Lash | ◇ ~2.0
If a creature starts or ends it's turn behind the dragon, they may use their tail instinctively once per round. The dragon's tail swipes behind it (or in a reasonably designated area). On hit, it deals half damage, and the creature struck must pass a Reflex Save vs DC 20 (or 10 + Proficiency + Strength). On failure, the creature is sent flying 20 ft away from the dragon (or proficiency x 5 ft), and they start falling if they weren't already.
This is considered a Reactive Strike.
-Tactics- |
In isolation, White Dragons are those who are the most familiar with the land of their lairs, turning them into terrifying hunters. The rugged cold has just made them more dangerous in a confrontation, and with how the cold magically affects them, they are sometimes the last, and strongest, obstacle many face when traveling these lands to get to a destination.
White Dragons are not unreasonable across the many worlds, but they are more dangerous and deadly than most other dragons, if only due to their want for the perfect hunt. Likewise, if one is able to make good on a promise for a White Dragon, they will ally for a long time (or at least until something more useful to them and their survival comes along).

Adjusting the creature's stats to appropriate Threat levels involves altering the TL, Proficiency Bonus, and damage numbers. This section is a work in progress.
