Quasqueton Room #05 - Wizard's Chamber

As seen in

Purpose / Function

Zelligar's personal quarters. This chamber was made to suit his needs and various indulgences. A private man, he prefers to keep his quarters away from the rest of the plebian rabble that wanders the halls.

Design

The room is a massive rectangle, just big enough to fit the stone mural Zelligar the Unknown commissioned. The walls and floor match the stonework of the rest of the site.

Entries

When entering the Wizard's Chamber, there are two doors on the south walls. One leading to his Closet , and the other one to his Wizzard's Annex

Sensory & Appearance

There is a minimum of furniture within the room aside from Zelligar the Unknown's bed, table, and nightstand.

Denizens

When discovered, the room was found empty.

Contents & Furnishings

Zelligar's bed, located in the southeast corner of the chamber, is a frame of ornately carved rosewood.   The headboard, besides showing the carved designs to advantage, boldly features Zelligar's name highlighted in gold leaf.   The bed is of obvious value and is of fine workmanship and construction. Because of its sturdiness. it cannot be removed from the the room without dismantling, and doing so will be difficult and likely to cause damage to the various pieces.   A rosewood nightstand/table is beside the bed, and it has one locked drawer.   Elsewhere in the room is a table and three chairs. none of which is of any exceptional worth or value. Upon the table are a pewter pitcher and three pewter mugs.

Valuables

The Pewter Pitcher set and inside the trapped dresser is Wand of Zelligar the Unknown

Hazards & Traps

The brass handle to the drawer has a pin trap which will be tripped by anyone grasping it, inflicting 1 hit point of damage. An oily substance on the pins is not a poison, but it does inflict unusual pain which will make the grasping hand unusable by the victim for 2-5 (d4 + 1) turns.   If a key is inserted into the lock before the handle is grasped. the trap will be negated. Any key of a size comparable to the actual key (which is nowhere to be found) will accomplish this function. The drawer itself is empty (unless treasure in this room is to be located within the drawer).

Special Properties

The dresser next to Zelligar the Unknown's bed is trapped, but not poisoned.

Alterations

When Zelligar the Unknown created the room, he created the most noticeable feature seen upon entering is a very large and fairly detailed stone carving which runs most of the length of the north wall of the room. Some 70 feet in overall length, the wall carving depicts a mighty wizard (obviously Zelligar) on a hilltop casting a spell in the air over a valley below. with an entire army fleeing in confused panic.

Architecture

The room is cut directly into the mountain, like all other rooms.

History

When Caverns of Quasqueton was created, Zelligar wished to create a priate abode in wich to practice his crafts safely and in peace. He took special care to ensure each seam in the floor lined up to a magical connection, and infusing the entire structure and surrounding lands to his chambers.

Tourism

Should the guild open up tours, cleary Zelligar's victory will be a site people will admire.
