Phoenix Fruit & Pod

Belis has been holding out on us. He's been here for five years and never once invited us for the Phoenix Pod celebration. Now that the whole family's here, Momma's insistent that it, like everything else, becomes a family thing. So we went to the manor to start the celebrations, afterwhich we all made our way to the shop.
Where, just as Otto and Belis both said, Abraxas was there with a Phoenix. I've never really seen the end of a phoenix's life, but it was a sight to behold. I don't think I can actually put it into words.
We then returned home, where Chef, Nora, and the rest of the house were waiting in the backyard. I don't think I've ever seen Nora so excited about food. Otto told me this is one of the few foods that they can actually taste and feel, because of its unique properties. The taste of the phoenix fruit is unique, that's for sure, and I don't know that I've ever really felt as warm, and I've only ever been that relaxed after giving into the family magic...Otto chuckled when I made that association. We planted the seeds in the back garden and gave pots to River and Quzal for theirs.
I can't wait for next year's festival.

Every year on the 37th of Darrst, the city of Alnerwick lights up with fires. As the fires burn throughout the city the old is burned with them, the ashes are then used in the replanting of the fruits the next morning. And as the fires die out, the citizens of Alnerwick partake of the Phoenix fruit, carefully removing the seed for planting the next morning. Celebrations are held throughout the night, including a rather large fire infront of Aften and Chalice Enchantments, as Mr. Aften's Phoenix, Lucent, dies and regenerates in conjuction with the festival.

Citizens of Alnerwick cannot participate until after their 14th birthday as the fruit warms the individual from the inside. Each of age citizen harvests a fruit from a tree, cuts out the seed, and plants it with the ashes from the fires in their yards. The fruit then grows, throughout the year not maturing until the 37th of Darst the following year.
Each household plants enough fruit's for every individual in the house, regardless of whether they can particiapte in the eating of the fruit.
The younger children enjoy the flights of the phoenix's throughout the city, most notably Lucent.
Observance
The Phoenix Fruit festival has come to mark the end of the year for the city of Alernwick, for as the phoenixs and the fruit burn away the old, the tress and the phoenix's begin growing almost immediately, signaling the start of the new year.
