The
Gutterborn have grown up in the poorest parts of the city. They have little education and have learnt from others around them. Their dialect has become strong and slurred, with their slang and terminology sounding obscure (and sometimes obscene) to the outside world.
They frequently add the L sound to words that end in the letter A (and sometimes other words too), which causes the word ending to sound like "awl". For example idea would become ideal, cuppa would become cuppal. Any words beginning with the letter H are often pronounced without the initial letter, for example half becomes "alf", happy becomes "appy" and hurting becomes "urtin", as the letter G is frequently dropped from words ending in "ing".
Words are spoken quickly, which has caused combined words to become commonplace such as "Cheerzen!" (Cheers, then!). Gutterborn often use this method of quick talk and mashed words to get away with swindling, getting out of trouble and getting their point across first. If you can't keep up you'll be outdone, no matter if you're another gutterborn child or the local butcher.
