You try to ignore the indirect insult, “There were two soldiers, well organized and supplied. They had four prisoners, including your son. Two men and a girl.”
“A girl?” Deron growls, “Scum harming the women folk of this land?” he grins to Dorbane and Dagan, “Lucky the bastards didn’t have Kutollum women to contend with, eh?”
Both guards at the door laugh out loud, while Dorbane himself can’t help but snicker. Dagan, however, holds his long face.
His father doesn’t know about Aggie. You try not to smile. Hold on, kid…hold on.
“So you jumped into the fray and destroyed the great plans of these Evolu I suppose?”
You look at Dorbane and then at Valda. Your stomach clenches in a knot.
