Stay Together #60

“Let’s stick together,” you caution, “there’s no telling what he can do…and we don’t know how well he might know this forest.”
All three of you sprint into the night—in the direction the last soldier fled. It’s not long before you’re forced to stop, however. The forest curves and slopes downward towards a lake. The only other safe path leads along the mountainside.
Both paths look worn with frequent use.
“Blast!” you curse, “He could have taken either path.”
Valda stares down the slope at the water of the broad lake. “If he has a boat, the lake will be the surest escape.”
“Agreed,” replies Dorbane, “but the path into the mountains would make it easier to hide. Rocks mean no trails. If he went this way, we’ll need to catch him soon.”
