Sneak Up on Camp Site #48

The moisture in the leaves help muffle the sound of your footsteps. You’ve been hunting in the hills most of your life, bringing small and medium-sized game—you know how to sneak. However, not all Kutollum have such skills.
You can hear Dorbane tromping through the brush in the distance. Fortunately, a sharp hiss from Valda silences him.
You drop low as you approach the light of the fire.
There are three men. One soldier is hunched over, sitting on a fallen log by the fire. He’s a small man, skinny, his sword unsheathed, stuck into the ground next to him. Two others—bigger, heavily armed, stand next to what looks like…bodies?
There’s more than one?? The two soldiers are arguing, but you can’t understand what they’re saying. You search the rim of the light around the camp, but you don’t see any sign of your friends.
Where are you guys? All three men are wearing the blue and red tabard of Andilain. Your stomach sinks—this is not good. Are these traitors? Thieves?
“Stop squirming, Gunther!” growls the bigger soldier. With two fingers, he shoves his comrade back and points at him warningly. “You slit their throats…or I’ll slit yours!”
The soldier, called Gunther, makes a foul gesture at the mans back as he walks away. He then shuffles over to the man by the fire. Again, there is conversation that you can’t hear—because of their hushed tones. The thin soldier remains hunched over. He never looks up.
