Blain and Jamel #12

You soon learn the two older humans are brothers. Blain and Jamel…both farmers from Whitewater. They were traveling to Castle Andilain to sell their grain to the army.   “It’s been a good year for us,” smiles Blain, “so we filled our cellar for the winter. When we saw, for once, that we had more than enough—we thought the surplus might help our soldiers, while putting some much needed coin in our pockets.”   Jamel scratches his head, openly disappointed, “Only, we never thought we’d be waylaid!”   You grumble, “You couldn’t have known.”   “That’s what’s so disturbing,” adds Blain. He catches himself on a small tree as you push through the forest, “You get so fixated on the enemy out there,” he waves his hand wildly, “that you never consider your own race might be bad.”   It’s a disturbing though, you agree. “So how did you both get kidnapped?” you ask, intrigued. “That seems a bit odd, if you don’t mind my saying so.”   Jamel shrugs. “We were stopped to be inspected,” he says, “With the war going on, we didn’t argue—figured it was a security thing.”   Dorbane, walking just ahead of you and listening, shakes his head. “But there are two of you,” he says out loud, “How did the soldiers get you both without a fight?”   The brothers look at one another, embarrassed. Finally, Blain mutters, “They gave us hot tea, to take the chill out of our bones.”   Both you and Dorbane can’t help but laugh out loud.   “Drugged and out cold in moments,” spat Jamel, “all ‘cause we thought those boys were being polite.”     You accompany Valda and decide to strike up a conversation with the young girl, go to page #84   If you decide to talk to Dagan, go to page #85
