Dorthonion

Summary

Dorthonion is a relic of old Nelqora. It is known that the Nelqorana colonized many of the coastlines in the world and that their colonies were more populous along the coast. There were only a few expansions inland, but each of these led to great kingdoms being built (as along the coasts) and left behind the signature relics of the Nelqorana.

Dorthonion was a city in the Western Mountains. It was built around the lake Eilafa, which was filled by an underwater spring. The history of the city has been lost to the ages, and all that survive are its shining towers and parapets.

Location

Specifically, Dorthonion lays in the Bitterfrost Vales, and so is buffeted by many cold winds. Its castles are built on jagged mountaintops, but the city itself used to fill the valley below. Today all that remains are the white castles and the ruins of the foundations of Dorthonion, hidden among the evergreen trees.

Adventure

There are treasures to be found in Dorthonion. Like all unexplored forts, immigrants have moved into its halls. There are also the treasures of the Nelqorana, left behind for millennia due to the great dangers the castles present to would-be treasure hunters.

Dorthonion is a relatively lonely place. Few can claim to have seen it. Though it was not one of Nelqora's premier colonies or cities, it is a magnificent sight.
