Viscountess Claywell

Leader of the Claywell Group, the Viscountess was given her title in gratitude for the reliable weaponry she has supplied the old country. She enjoys her title, as it gives her group more ability to resist attempts from nobles to rip them off.   Daughter of two craftsfolk, she used money from family to fund her initial merchant activities. Over time she proved herself reliable for both customers and producers alike, a merchant that sold not too high but also bought not too low. At some point, many of her suppliers finally decided to formally unite.   The Viscountess is said to covertly tag along with supply trips to the valley, seeking to investigate the materials available. Under her command, the group has the first right of refusal to any materials gathered, in return for their willingness to keep selling supplies at a fair price, despite our slowly-growing desperation ripe for abuse for great profits.

Skills

Physical
One could easily underestimate the Viscountess, but as a merchant she had little choice but learn how to defend herself. When it comes to the weaponry and alchemical items she sells, including all the devices the Wooden Shields use, she knows them all and is skilled with many.   She is small of stature but sturdy in build, a fact she hides through the way she dresses. She may not win a physical confrontation with the most brutish individuals, but she can still face down many that might challenge her.
Mental
One does not unite a large group of merchants and craftsfolk without a sharp mind and good social skills. Even before she received her title, she would properly deal with those trying to scam her or intimidate her. Thanks to her title, she now dares to openly resist them if needed.   At the same time, she is friendly to those that are or may become her allies. She cares more about the bigger picture, not going for a quick gain but always jumping on the opportunity to build long-lasting connections through aiding those in need.

Oh man, I do love the self-proven nature of her. Sure she started well funded, but it takes a real gift to work your way up like that. I'd love to see a quote or two for her, something to help contextualize some major moral or economic decisions she's made!   You got so much history you can break into as well, a great primer for a bigger article!
