Cassiel
Archangel of Faith and Tears
To strive for something higher than oneself is both a worthy cause and a heavy one. Cassiel sees this struggle and cherishes it. It isn't about being perfect, it is about always struggling to become better and knowing that you will always have flaws. Humility is the highest honour, inadequacy the most valuable achievement, and self-doubt the most precious source of happiness.
Cassiel is the missionary of Heaven, and also the patron of all the religions considered Divine (Buddhism. Judaism, Christianity, and Islam). They assign their angels to both to encourage faith in something greater and instil a sense of having to do more to be worthy of it. But to be faced with concrete evidence would nullify the attempts of both of these and so Cassiel's angels make sure to always work from the shadows.
Protector of the Devout
Several religious institutions and especially holy individuals have been protected by Cassiel and their angels at times. This doesn't mean they condone everything done by members of these organisations, but the Archangel does believe that all people need guidance. When someone's faith is tested, it gives them a chance to have it strengthened. In order for humanity to be spiritually strong enough to withstand the influence of the Infernals, they must always be pushed to their limits.Physical Description
General Physical Condition
In their true form, Cassiel is a towering human-looking individual wearing simple clothes covered in religious imagery. Their skin is entierly covered in a short but dense black fur that grows longer in the back of their head, creating a hair-like effect. Their eyes glow with a white light, with drops of light running down their cheeks like tears. From their back extends uncountable white-feathered wings.

Personal history
Cassiel wasn't part of the founding of any of the divine religions, but if this annoys them it doesn't show. They have, however, been involved in a lot of religious organisations formed around these religions. In fact, some say that the struggles and schisms within the catholic church that led to the Reformation were inadvertently caused by Cassiel's angels. They would prefer all of these religions to work towards common goals, but their methods have more than once caused more strife than unity.
Postmodern thought has brought with it a very complex view on faith. Cassiel hasn't yet formed an official policy regarding those who declare themselves "spiritual but not religious" or who synthesize a religion from pieces of tradition. For the most part, their angels follow the general direction of encouraging faith in something higher as well as doubt in one's ability to live up to the high ideals that come with it. The outcome is more important than the details of tenets.
Intellectual Characteristics
While they might show great humility, Cassiel has an unyielding strength of faith. They will do whatever it takes to anyone or anything they have to in order to save humanity and safeguard Keter. They do this with a sharp intellect and a ruthlessness that might seem odd for such a pious individual. But Cassiel fights for what is right, not for what is kind.
Morality & Philosophy
Cassiel is a paragon of faith. They view everything in terms of how much selfless devotion it shows and how humble someone is. They consider themselves a simple servant of God, executing the most vital of tasks. In the absence of Metatron as the Voice of God Cassiel sees their own task as the most powerful bullwark against the Infernals. If humanity doesn't have the strength of faith to resist temptation, the worlds are lost as the Thicket of Thorns will grow and devour everything.
