Tsught
Ervenian Era, 1051 AB
The Tsught, also known as the Northern Skking, is a large even-toed ungulate native to the North Gulf and the Nakam Slopes. It is an omnivorous animal with distinct humps on its underside and around its neck used both for energy storage and protection. It excels in arid enviornments, and is well suited for drastic changes in temperature and biomes, able to quickly adapt to cold high altitudes and hot low altitudes. Tsughts are able to grow both thick and sparse fur, and increase or reduce their blood air-carrying efficiency. They have long legs somewhat reminiscent of a camel's, and are widely used as transport along The Ivory Route. Tsught are domesticated, and as such are much more docile than their Southern counterparts.
Additional Information
Domestication
The Tsught's domestication dates back to at least 2,500 BB, when human tribes in the north gulf used them for transportation and for food, together with the dwarves of Nakilnul. Over generations, undomesticated tsughts were driven to extinction, and currently, all wild herds of tsught are virtually the same species.
One notable variant is the pygmy tsught, carefully bred by VilÊınilyudy for riding. However, the Vil'nilyudy still make use of regular-sized tsughts as beasts of burden and for trade caravans.
During the Kadian Invasion of Rakion, the Might of the Holy Pact used tsughts as pack animals in the southern desert ruled by House Khar.
