Ansara is the smallest naturally-formed contient of the planet, and is the second-smallest continent overall. It is forested in its northern areas, with plains and some deserts nearer to its south. At the centre of the continent lies one of its most prominent natural features, the Zarindran mountains.
Ansara is one of the more technologically advanced continents, decades ahead of Valadia and Vehasi, and centuries ahead of Kaurenis.

Geography

Countries & Nations

There are five major nations in Ansara. These nations are Oscain, Relana, Zarindra, Silite, and Gybora. The former four nations live at peace with one another, but the militaristic Gybora poses an ever-present threat to each of them.

Relana

Relana is the northernmost nation of Ansara, originally founded by elves. Nowadays, while much of the older architecture is very notably elvish, the majority of the population is made up of other species, including humans, orcs, and some dwarves - as well as a great many of mixed lineage, between those groups and more. The majority of Relana's geography is forested, though some of its northern coasts are slightly less so. As such, the majority of its cities are within these forests, and its armies are trained in ambush tactics.

Oscain

Oscain is the most technologically advanced of the nations of Ansara. It is densely populated, with a primarily human population, and has even begun to expand to living in floating cities, such as that of its capital, Andor. There is an abundance of fish living in the two bodies of water flanking the peninsula where Oscain sits, though these fish are slowly being poisoned and at risk of extinction from the chemical byproducts released from Oscainian factories. The nation is run by a council of nobles and a littany of corporations, where most people other than the ultra-rich have to struggle and fight to survive.

Zarindra

Originally and primarily a dwarven nation, Zarindra sits as the only landlocked nation of Ansara, its territory reaching out to fully cover the Zarindran Mountains sitting at its heart. Zarindra is home to the majority of dwarves in the county, as well as refugees from Oscain that can make it into their territory. Zarindra supplies materials mined from these mountains to the rest of the continent. The nation is safe from attacks both due to the treacherous mountains, and this source of materials it provides, allowing it to serve as a shield between Gybora and the rest of the nations.

Gybora

Gybora is a millitaristic nation on the eastern side of the continent of Ansara, originally founded by halflings but now occupied by a majority of orcs. This millitaristic lifestyle formed in response to the hostile nature of many of the creatures that can be found in the sand dunes of the nation's territory, but due to influence from the orcish god Tithys, soon turned into conquering and expansion. This has come mostly to a halt as Zarindra blocks the way, but as the nation becomes seabound, the remaining countries are growing worried.

Silite

Silite is a nation built on an excess of rifts to the elemental planes. This number of elemental rifts, located all across the continent, have led to a population largely composed of plane-souls. The nation is not actually one government, but four elemental city-states located roughly around the areas with the highest density of their given element. Each of these city-states has their own government, economy, and capital, though they act in unison and meet as councils when interacting with any of Ansara's nations. Silite is also the gate of trade between Ansara and Prospera.
