Dynamo Hill
Dynamo Hill is a remote skyport town located north of Hyperborea's Jorgmungandr Mountains, in the Hoedenheim Territory's Dynamo River Valley. It is the only settlement of consequence in the area.
Demographics
Most of the population of Dynamo Hill have come here from somewhere else. Its permanent population of almost 3,000 consists mainly of adults of working age. Dwarfs and gnomes represent the bulk of the inhabitants, but most of the folk commonly found in Hyperborea can be found here in small family units, or as individuals. A small number of fugitive criminals hides out in various steadings and boltholes, scattered across the Dynamo River Valley.
Locals depend on their neighbours in emergency situations. As a result, citizens of Dynamo Hill are typically slow to trust strangers.
Government
There is no official government in Dynamo Hill. Instead, a service-driven economy backed by standards derived from Dwarfish Clan Law and Lakelander Guild Best Practices keeps things official and represents an unorthodox but useful method for individuals to figure out disputes amongst themselves. Known locally as the Code, it is the only thing that passes for law in this corner of the Territory, and it seems to work.
Defences
Dynamo Hill's best defense is its airborne position. Attacks from below are easily foiled by raising access points, while attacks from the air usually find the motley collection of aeronauts who depend on Dynamo for repairs and resupply rising to its defense. It is almost impossible to besiege.
Industry & Trade
Dynamo Hill specializes primarily in service, and secondarily in aviation.
