Klementia
Everything just... got out of handKlementia was a small settlement that existed in the shadows of the mountains near where the Tairos River forks, a few hundred miles south of Ackley Point. The old maps of the Cartographers Guild don't list Klementia - like many villages in the wake of The Queen's Rebuke it was founded by refugees and with no official breaking of ground. The first reports of Klementia's existence come from caravaners sixty years ago who noted a small elven settlement near the fork in the Tairos river. The caravan notes describe it as a modest village with a healthy distrust of outsiders and a population entirely made up of Elves. It also mentioned a strange local faith dominated by reverence for the summer solstice. This would be the only notable reference to Klementia for another twenty-three years when one of Ghal Pelor's special forces units was dispatched to the region. This unit was one of many shadow task forces entrusted with seeking out and eliminating external threats to the city. Their files indicated they were dispatched to Klementia to investigate a rumor of functional divine magic and possible contact with Tairos' missing gods. They found a population of elves who shunned both Melanthris and the Lakeside communities where their kin could be found. The written report by the task force becomes rather vague about their findings and the encounter, giving only surface-level detail about demonic worship and a blood cult performing living sacrifices of captives. The report describes how every member of the small hamlet was part of the dark faith and how the task force barely survived their ordeal. It also mentions they set fire to much of Klementia and killed most of its population. The task force reported the region was cleansed of the demonic presence, and no further official visits have been made to the area. Caravan traffic rarely travels in this direction anymore also, with the advent of more established trade villages to the west like Clouchester, Fountain Head , and Becklinberg. The few that have journeyed that way do so at a distance and have noted the burnt husk of a village still remaining. On occasion, River Halflings explore the waters south of Lake Tairos, but the mountains at the river fork evoke a great unease in them. They're a superstitious people, and the shadowy patch of land beneath the mountain features in many of their forbidden tales. One such take speaks of the strange flower beds that somehow grow around the ruins of Klementia despite its lack of sunlight.
