Falsefruit

  • These insectoid creatures crawl up into trees and lie hanging in wait, curled up to disguise themselves as fruit that naturally grow in these environments.
  • When a Seeker or other target passes beneath, they drop down and then try to attach themselves to their target. Once attached, they will divide themselves  by detaching their limbs, which can think independently.
  • Once split, the limbs will attempt to restrict a moving target. They don’t have the capacity to think beyond this, so it is up to the main organism to bring a valid target close.
  • What was once the body of the Blightbeast becomes vulnerable once split, and it is all a Seeker needs to destroy in order to trigger the death of the divided limbs. To combat this, it detaches and then crystallizes its soft exterior. A Seeker must either break through the hardened surface or pierce the core of the creature before it hardens.
