Carapaser Species in Pulse | World Anvil

Carapaser

  • This creature resembles a slug, leech, and beetle.
  • This creature resembles a slug, except for instead of a squishy exterior, it has a thick shell. They move much more quickly than slugs, too, both slithering and burrowing slightly in gravel and sand. Relative to other Blightbeasts, however, this movement is considered slow.
  • They will coil their tails and leap at a target, hitting it with surprising force.
  • Thick-stemmed antennae jut out from the front of their bodies. They have no eyes or noses. They see with their antennae alone.
  • Carapasers are relatively docile, but they will attack anything that comes too close. Once a Carapaser has latched onto a person, it will continue to seek that person out.
  • Their thick shells and sharp teeth are all that make them difficult to slay. Their bite is more annoying than it is harmful. It is difficult to die to a Carapaser or even a group of them.
  • They aren’t very intelligent. The most intelligent behavior they exhibit is hiding when wounded. Otherwise, camouflage is unintended on the part of the Blightbeast.
  • They will materialize into small depressions called Spawning Cavities, where the use their yellow and red patterning to blend in with their environments. Patterning is dependent upon Festerfont environmental conditions, but it is not the Carapaser that is responsible for matching the environment. Sometimes, clusters of Carapasers Burrows will cause trouble for Seekers.
  • These Blightbeasts are recommended targets for Seeker Initiates who intend to take culling jobs.
  • Once a Carapaser has latched onto a target, it should not be ripped off. That will cause moderate bleeding. Instead, squeezing it’s body will pressure it to detach itself.
  • Genetic Ancestor(s)
