The World Anvil Worldbuilding Awards are upon us as voting has now kicked off. I hope all the best to everyone who submitted something and good luck with all of your marketing efforts! Since there are so many articles to look at, I figured I'd just make a convenient little post here with all of mine for those interested. I would greatly appreciate the support. Of course, if there are other articles you like more, go vote for those instead. I just want to make sure people don't miss mine on the big list of articles :D   If you are looking for the full list of submitted articles, click here. Remember that you can only cast a vote per category. Voting for a new article in the same category changes your vote.

Hearts & Minds

Of all the articles I’ve written so far, this has got to be one of the ones I am by far the most proud of. Humans play a central role in my most well-developed setting, Lethea, and so in a way, this article is also an introduction to that world. Writing this felt so satisfying as I got to tie in so many various aspects of the world into this one article, aspects and little bits of worldbuilding that I’ve been working on and refining since I started the world back in 2015.   It was also fun to reveal more of the long-lost history of the world and how Lethea isn’t just a typical fantasy world, but a world in our own future or in the words of Dimitris: “OMG LETHEA IS POST APOC RESTART SCI FI!!!”. The formatting on this article also came out looking fantastic. I had submitted this for the Best Worldbuilding award as well, but then, due to the rule change, it only stayed in the Hearts & Minds category.

Rise of Nations

One of my joys in life is figuring out random fictional countries, their politics and conflicts, and then hopefully also writing pretty articles about them on World Anvil. The Kingdom of Enliten was one of those articles which I wrote last year. This realm and the surrounding lands hold a special place in my heart, as it was the first part of the map of Lethea that I began creating, and later, writing about. Much has changed since those early days, however, and several revisions later, Enliten looks a lot different.   I am very happy with the formatting on this article as well and all the little political and military details. Of course, this article also has a map that I am incredibly proud of, but the map itself is something that you can vote for on its own for the Cartography award if you deem it worthy.

Wondrous Nature

The alchen are one of the three main civilised species of Lethea and the first of the three to get a proper article. Much of what I learned creating this article I then used later on when working on the humans. Originally, I had made this article all the way back in 2018, but it was basically an empty stub for years until I finally turned it into what it is today last April.   Last Yule, I also had a delightful time writing up a pantheon for them during WorldEmber and that was a neat little task I gave myself. Just got to write a whole bunch of short articles on various gods. I hope to expand more on the various countries and ethnicities of this species and their history and conflicts, of course.

Strength & Honour

One of the alchen countries that I have already written an article on is the Exalted Republic of Helendriel and the Sehenian People, a country with such a long name I had to use some article specific CSS in order to make the title of the article smaller. Much like with the Kingdom of Enliten article, this was a joy to write. Helendriel is rife with corruption, decadence, and all the conflicts that arise as a consequence.   Whenever I write about a country, I make sure to sow the seeds of chaos, ensuring that there is some kind of turmoil that could lead to conflicts in the future, if the country isn’t already embroiled in them in the first place. If Helendriel were in a grand strategy game, they would look like an easy nation to play as on the surface, but their corruption and mismanagement would make them a mighty challenge to steer into prosperity and victory.

Cartography Award

This is the best map that I have created so far and I have my hopes up that it’ll do well this year. For those who don’t know, I draw my maps in Photoshop using a Wacom tablet. Everything is hand drawn, even every single tree is unique. Normally I would at least copy paste a few of the individual trees around for maps, but with this one I, for some reason, went all in and just drew every single one from scratch. I started the project on the 23rd of April last year and finished in a few months later on the 23rd of August.
The Map of the Enlitic Peninsula is, as the name suggests, a map that depicts the Enlitic peninsula and its surroundings in the year 1567 AA. This exquisite depiction of the region was commissioned by Harál Herwik, the King of Enliten, in 1565, along with the consent of his advisors in the Council of Helí.   Much of the northern parts of the map, the territories that extend beyond the Enlitic mountains and the Central Pass, are highly speculative, as folk believe that those lands are swarming with aberati.

Good luck, Dhel! Some great choices for your entries! :) The quote at the beginning made me laugh. XD
