Momento Mori

Momento Mori is an illegal, Class I stimulant drug that has a popular following within the black markets found throughout the world; especially in the American Wasteland and East Asia. Taking on the appearance of a crimson-red dust similar to that of cocaine, Momento Mori has been responsible for many deaths, both from taking the drug and the effects it has on the user.

History

While the exact origins of the drug is unknown, it's speculated to have been created in 1994 and used by those whom partake in Fleshism; though whether it's the main sect or another; smaller group of believers of the Flesh hasn't been determined by the world at large. While its usage was initially limited to those who practiced Fleshism, it quickly began to be distributed across the country by those in the criminal underworld. Although the means of creating Momento Mori is considered abhorrent, that hasn't stopped its spread; especially once it made its way into China and the surrounding regions.

After The Withering, creation of Momento Mori would begin to skyrocket, on account of the abundance of resources available after it. Despite being outlawed in Deepcore Foundation locations and independent cities such as NEO City, Momento Mori can still be found being made; sold; and taken everywhere possible, if one were to pay attention.

Creation

The creation of Momento Mori, originally kept a secret within the walls of the churches of the Fleshist Organic Church, is one of the main reasons that creation and distribution of the drug is illegal. The creation of it requires Mana, hydrochloric acid, opiates of any kind, LSD, and a cadaver of any size or make. Due to the nature of the church it originated from, it was common for Momento Mori to use deceased humans in its creation. Some whom create Momento Mori tend to use trace amounts of Necrozmatic Spore in it as well, though generally this has resulted in the creation of a Host when the user of the drug overdoses and dies.

Benefits

Those who take it report various enhancements to focus and strength. It's able to numb the sensation of pain intently, allowing for people to ignore any injury they take. Alongside that, users of it report seeing and feeling the world in slow motion and without feeling exhaustion; which has served for users to experiment with taking Momento Mori and partaking in various activities, such as competitive combat, flight, sex, etc.; and not feel exhaustion overtake their bodies.

It is rumored that soldiers within the Deepslate PMC take the drug regularly to enhance their combat abilities, though it's been unconfirmed.

Risks

Momento Mori can be lethal to those who overdose on it or use it for a long period of time. Along with gradually making various organs give out slowly; there are the side effects of:

Brain decay, resulting in ego death and loosened inhibitions

Empathic and Moral obligation decay due to brain damage

Increased violent streaks

Decay of Eyesight, eventually resulting in blindness

Expulsion of Mana through any orifice

Rare occurrence of becoming trapped within your own mind due to time dilation, minutes becoming hours or even days.

Rare occurrence of spontaniously snapping and commiting violent acts en masse
