May-Be Challenge 2025

This article contains my entries to Tillerz's challenge May-be This Could Be Done Better.   This challenge gave me a great chance to look at different articles that I haven't been incentivized to work on and improve. I have learned a lot in my past few years on World Anvil, and I've gathered a consistent style for what an article should look like in this encyclopedia of Nonvyrox. All of this culminated in me looking at several of my older articles and seeing what needed fixing up and fitting into this new style.   I plan to use this article to keep track of the changes I have made to some of these articles, and also have a place to spotlight these articles and what I like, and maybe want to work on more.

Article 1: Azrovil's Expanse

First Published: 11th July 2022   The majority of the work on this article was looking back on the text written and editing it to fit in a consistent style and tone throughout. Then the next important element was developing the layout of the articles to match the style of more recent articles. This allows me to bring one of my first ever published articles in line with the quality of content that I am trying to produce now.   Looking back on this article has inspired me to work more on other parts of my world with stronger links to the demiplane and the deity which inspired it. As a result, Azrovil and Shadecrest have both leaped up my list of articles to work on!

Article 2: Tremor's Children

First Published: 12th July 2022   Tremor's Children surprisingly had the least work needed to make it to par with my world as it currently stands. The majority of the rework that was needed was focused on formatting the article better with the style I've developed in the nearly 2 years since I've published this article. Then I went in and added new information based on the new time period of the world, 20 years after when the article was originally written for.   Tremor's Children is a group that I want to explore more, especially as they work as a good antagonist for TTRPG games and fiction stories that could come later down the pipeline. It has made me want to look back on Heimter as a whole to expand further the different countries inside of the continent.

Article 3: Ember Owl

First Published: 13th July 2022   The Ember Owl was my first attempt at a creature within the world of Nonvyrox. It contained the start of what I would want my species articles to become in the end, but was missing a key section where I discussed the abilities of a creature. Therefore, that was my first major addition to this article. From there, I worked on creating a more consistent layout with my other creature based articles, but there are some changes that may need to come again down the line.   This article has reminded me just how few creatures I have developed into my world, and how much more work I can do on the different species of my world. That led onto reminding me that I haven't developed the ancestries that are so deeply ingrained to the cultures of my world. Maybe something to consider as Summer Camp approaches!

Article 4: Aernavis

First Published: 14th July 2022   The Aernavis article had some well needed edits to keep it up with the attempts at quality within my other articles. Several sections needed grammar and spelling checks to ensure they were up to standard. From there, I had to manipulate the layout of the article to match my others from across Nonvyrox. This was tricky as there is a lot of text in such a short article. The best option was to give some areas where there could be images to break up the monotony of just text on the screen.   There are lots of areas of expansion that come from the Aernavis article, especially as it is so linked with the idea of travelling across vast distances. It was also good to create an idea of how to handle a more generic vehicle article rather than a specific individual version of a vehicle. Some of the locations from across Nonvyrox with Skyports have made me want to visit (or re-visit) them down the line.

Article 5: Boktan

First Published: 14th July 2022   Boktan was my first published settlement, and as a result was drastically different from the design that I have developed for other different settlements now. As a result, the majority of the work done on this article was based on the overall layout of the article. Yet, another major consideration was the fact that the article was written when the world was taking place before 740 AR. This meant it was important to consider the worldbuilding changes such as population size that have changed in several years.   Boktan was a great first step into considering the political structures of the Qil'Soran Republic and how that has changed over the years. With Qil'Sora being an Empire as recently as 743 AR, its interesting to engage with the timeline of what has occurred during these years and how this has affected not only Qil'Sora, but also its satellite settlements like Boktan.

Other Articles Rewritten

While the above articles were the first five completed, and the official five that received the Gold Attempt, this section contains a list of the different articles that I was able to do some level of rewriting on during May 2025. I plan to add a couple of different articles here as the month progresses!
